It is the second largest town in the state after Sungai Petani based on the population and one of the important cities in the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia along the longest expressway, located 400 km from Kuala Lumpur and 79 km (49 mi) north of George Town, Penang. The city is home to the Central State Administration Centre and is the administrative centre of Kota Setar District.

We visited on a Thursday night and the place was buzzing. It is cheerful, serves food and has both indoor and outdoor seating. It also has specials on festivals and Special Days like Mothers Day etc.

Visiting this place during chinese new year..the place is small but the environment was quite ok, lot of choices of draught beers, snacks and a live band performance.Recommended!

We are located at the old railway station of Alor Setar, one of the oldest building in town. We serve all sorts of food and beverages, coffee, juice, tea, alcoholic drinks. We also serve halal oriental food and western food.

Located at the city centre, the building is unique a colonial style building and it use to be an old railway terminal.Food was slightly in mid-range price, served lots of kind of draught beers. But the staff service is slow and unaware. Be been sit down for almost 15 minutes and totally ignored by the waitress although they passed by our table several time! Its take another 15 minutes to get our beer after we order and it come out a wrong beer. The waitress was confuse and took a wrong order. She explained that she just a part-time waitress. (Part-time or full-time, i think the management need to be trained their staff )
