Wasn't sure about this place looking from the outside, but my advice is open the door! Very comfortable and welcoming inside. Waitress was attentive, and efficient. We visited for lunch, and had a combination of sandwiches and ribs. Everything was very good. the restaurant also validates parking at the cotton exchange car park which is an added bonus. Very good

We went for dinner about 5 pm, there were very few diners, and a couple of men sitting at the bar. We were welcomed and told to sit anywhere. Husband's Guiness as expected. He also had bangers and mash, were all right, not really authentic My Chicken Gruyere was yummy. It did seem like a rather thin portion but was covered in delicious cheese and onions and mushrooms. Fresh broccoli to the side was good though quite salty with an interesting seasoning. Both of our meals were served with mashed potatoes which were sadly luck warm. The Joyce has good potential for a fun atmosphere, but food needs improvement.

OK...it was St. Patty's Day. And it was busy. But they were prepared. A large tented outdoor area supplemented their inside space, and their bars and kitchen were up to the challenge. The food was good, the servers were joyously enthusiastic, and the whole experience put them head and shoulders above the norm. Thank you to Sarah and the whole team for making this a grand occasion.
