Altes Ruderhaus

Surrounded by two alleys of huge, old planes, one along the river Rhine, the premisses of Altes Ruderhaus ( hotel opened in 2016) are beautifully located at the outskirts of historical Worms, the new bridge over Rhine and the Nibelungenturm in view. We arrived just after heavy rainfall, the parking lot full of mud and no sign from which side to enter the premises. But when we finally found the entrance along the south side, we were really amazed of this fine spot, the well-furnished, modern, clean room, the pleasant staff in the restaurant. Though there are other spots along the Rhine a few steps away, we preferred to have dinner on the Altes Ruderhaus restaurant terrace overlooking the Rhine scene, boats floating along. A good choice of wines and beers, dishes also for veggies, fair prices. Also the breakfast was fine. In brief, we liked itAs it was very hot, we missed a climate control in the room, but that was the only drawback. So, to sum up: excellent location, fine rooms, fine restaurant. But please update the parking lot. And, yes, the wifi in the room was perfect but no signal in the restaurant. However, I understood, that the management of the restaurant is not the same as the hotel management, though they are working closely together. When booking in Worms, be aware of the yearly Nibelungen festival week in summer. It might be very crowded then.

Parkhotel Prinz Carl

First thing i need to mention, the rooms are gigantic. Of course there are some rooms that are small but i stayed there with a 30 people group, occupying almost half the hotel and the consesus was the rooms were huge, only 2 people of the group got small rooms. I stayed in room 220, which was at a corner on the second floor, overlooking the parking lot. Lovely room, quite spacious. The hotel is close to rails and there are trains passing every 10 minutes or so, and it can get quite noisy at night with the windows open so i suggest you close the windows. The reception was impeccable, but the furniture looked a little worn and dated, and the carpet in the room wasn't the cleanest. Bed wasn't the best either. But overall the room was nice and well equipped, i've stayed at worse places that charge more. The reception staff were courteous and fabulous at all times. Hats off to Laurence Torro, she is great, speaks a bunch of languages and generally extremely helpful. As with most hotels in Europe, WIFI is only available around the reception and if you want internet connection in your room, you need to fork out more money, which to me makes no sense whatsoever in this day an age. The reception bar was also nice, but i wished there was more space to sit. We hung out most nights until 2 or 3 am at the bar, the bartender was cool. The food at the restaurant was great both breakfast and dinner. Breakfasts especially, good assortment of goodies, breads, cereals, NUTELLA... etc. Germans know how to have breakfast. Yes, nutella is very important to me.Location is also great, the hotel is only 3 blocks or so away from the shopping area and town center which is about 6 x 4 blocks in size. There are tons of places to look around and sit down and have coffee or a beer. Worms is a lovely town.Value was also pretty good, hotels in the town center were a little cheaper but this one was much nicer.I had a good time, i'd stay there again. Recommended.

Café TE was recommended to us, from the training centre teacher..(friends of the owner). We visited this bar a few times during the week, we were in Worms.Staff - The owner and bar keeper was friendly enough, His English was good, and gave use good measurements on the sprits.Atmosphere - Good generally relaxed, was also quiet until we arrived..!! Not many in but it was late each time as we went for late evening meals each day and popped in on the way back to our hotel. The place is a lot bigger on the inside.Food - Sorry we never ate here. but meals looked ok for pub grub and prices looked average.Drinks - I drank the light draught beer. not a bad drop, I drink lager back home. The double shot coffee's were a little bitter. Sprits and mixer drinks had a good measurements of booze. One of our guys drank red wine which he said was good.Total Costs - No meals, drinks prices were average for area, free nuts etc..Overview - Would of liked to have seen the place at the weekend. Enjoyable few late drinks.
