Last night at Playground 2.0 was one incredibly exciting food and wine pairing adventure! Master Chef Jason Quinn is a creative genius. Such fresh, beautiful, some exotic, carefully selected vegetables, expressed as vegetables, nothing hidden, prepared with more of the freshest, most delightful ingredients that make me feel with each bite, like I’m in heaven - no kidding! Each of the 12-14 dishes had such a variety of taste, texture, heat, salt, acid, sweet, spice, umami, crunch, and smoothness. A totally heavenly experience from beginning to end!

Carthay Circle Restaurant

Reviewed By danielleeu9

We decided to do a drinks, apps, and dessert stop at Carthay Circle in DCA before going to the last Halloween Party of our trip. Though we had been to Carthay Circle before and were only so-so on the experience we thought we would try it one more time-especially since they had just released the special limited run drinks with the purple poison apple glow cubes! The waiter we had was great about the fact that we weren't ordering entrees too (which was good, since it was still super expensive by the time we were done). We decided to just get 3 Poison Appletinis (well, we got 1 and the other 2 of us asked if there were any other non-alcoholic drink options available where we could get the glow cubes too and they said they could do two of the alcohol-free specialty drinks and still allow us the special glow cubes but that they would have to charge us the cost of the Appletini drinks in order to do so), We also got 1 order of Fried Biscuits, 1 order of Duck Wings, 1 Croustade dessert, and 2 slices of the Citrus Cake which was all just ok, but nothing to write home about. Our total for all this, after 10% off with my annual passholder discount (but before adding on a tip) was still $125.74!!!! That was for 3 drinks (only one of which was alcoholic), 2 apps, and 3 desserts. So, despite our server being so great and attentive, we will most likely not be stopping in here again on our next trip, to us it's just not worth the cost for what you get.

The Tangata Restaurant at the Bowers is a convenient place to take a meal when visiting the museum. The chef has done a nice job of assembling a menu of fresh dishes that are representative of meals I have had at other world-class museums. I enjoy sitting outside with a view of the courtyard while enjoying Sunday brunch or having a quick lunch when in the area. If visiting the museum, parking ($6) is validated when dining at Tangata.
