My mom and I recently dined at Etch, and it was such a great experience. After reading the menu, I was a bit nervous because the dishes combine a lot of flavor profiles and include many, many ingredients. I took a chance and got the venison and it was SO delicious! This is a really special restaurant, and I'd highly recommend visiting if you're in Nashville. Hi Channing,Thank you for your kind words! It’s a pleasure knowing that your recent visit to Etch was so memorable. We appreciate your patronage and hope you’ll return for the venison again soon!Ahna AbuvalaEtch

First off I have to sing the praises of the staff. So friendly and helpful, even with my endless gluten free questions. The best part was the gluten free brownies and snickerdoodle cookies that were served with the chocolate fondue. I died and went to heaven. It was a special treat for a GF person like me. We were lucky enough to get reservations for a show that featured 4 wonderful women songwriters "in the round". The music was completely amazing. The venue is small and intimate and wonderful. Staff was the perfect balance of friendly and efficient. I had not expected much from the food as the focus is music but was surprised and how delicious everything was. This place gets A's all around!

I had this bookmarked for our trip because we wanted something southern-inspired and local with a cool atmosphere. This restaurant was exactly what we were looking for in the heart of downtown Nashville. It was the very first restaurant that we dined in after our flight from Tampa. It was a busy Friday evening but fortunately we had reservations. We were greeted and seated promptly to a nice little table near the open kitchen. We could here all the action behind the kitchen counter and saw many of the popular orders waiting to be delivered to the tables. The atmosphere and service were fantastic the entire time. I loved the pulley and belt-driven ceiling fans. It was so very country, yet sophisticated. The antique with the new decor is always very appealing to me. There were TVs surrounding the tables with chairs and all centered around the bar. There are only a few booths by the window so you may need to call in and specifically reserve them if that's what you want.I kind of wish I had ordered a cocktail, but decided to just get water with lemon. I know it sounds boring but I was a little dehydrated after the plane ride. What can I say? I immediately was drawn to the daily rotating oyster menu. Yes, these little buggers are pricey. They come from all over the US (Pacific and Atlantic). I couldn't resist trying 3 different types. I chose the Kumamoto, French Kiss, and some large oyster (can't remember the name of it) from Puget Sound. I wish I could remember the name of it. Heck, I don't even know if I have the right oyster. It was definitely the one at the very far left in the picture. It tasted like the ocean. Amazing!! I liked them all but this one was the best IMO. Now, I think it may have been the less expensive of the 3 because the waiter kind of thought that it was interesting when I told him which one I liked the best. Not the response he expected. LOL! Anyway, the cocktail sauce served with it went very well the oysters and did not overpower the fresh taste. Yeah, I come all the way from Florida just to say that these oysters in Nashville are the best I've ever tasted. Weird, but true. We also got complimentary herb & cheese bites. These are like the Bisquick recipe but better. They were warm and delicious. I couldn't stop eating them. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the appetizer that my husband ordered. The "Devil of an Egg" is a smoked egg with a touch of Louisiana hot sauce and served with pickled veggies. This was also a winner. It had a nice little smokiness to it and the veggies were interesting. Hard to describe, but good.Okay, so on to our main entrees. These were very delicious. My husband had the Chicken Fried Chicken served over mac & cheese. He seemed to like it. I had the "Wind from the South" which is the daily fisherman's choice. It was salmon served on top of some yummy veggies, Himalayan rice, a red pepper coulis, and grilled pineapple. I wasn't a fan of the rice. It had been described as having bits of pork in it. This one didn't have any of that. Maybe they forgot to put it in. I left most of the rice because it was tasteless to me. That would be my only negative for the evening. I didn't say anything because honestly I didn't need the rice anyway. The rest of the dish was fantastic and made up for that. The salmon was fresh and cooked perfectly (not overdone like some other places). The crispy skin was seasoned very well and honestly was the best part of the meal. The veggies and grilled pineapple were perfectly done. The veggies were fresh and crisp and not mushy. Loved it! I'd order it again without the rice.I'd definitely go back if I'm ever in Nashville again. It's a popular spot so do make reservations in advance. There have even been some celebrity chef sightings. I read about it on their facebook page. Hey, if famous chefs are checking this place out then it must be good. We just happened to like the menu and bookmarked it for that reason. The most popular dishes coming out of the kitchen were the Saffire Steak Biscuits, Oysters, Southern Burger, and The Belle. They all looked fantastic. The "Evening" menu items are pricey, but they do have an "Any Time" menu that is very affordable. It has a little something for everyone. Don't miss it!
