This little restaurant has done very well since it opened so well that they have expanded. They offer a lunch menu as well as supper a la carte and combo menus. Evenings reservations are recommended especially on weekends. The service is at times a bit slow if they are very busy but the entire staff friendly and welcoming.

We enjoyed Gandhi although weâve had better Indian food back home. Maybe itâs because we ordered the table dâhôte instead of individual dishes. The spicing was pretty easy going so perhaps if we had ordered individual dishes we could have selected the level of spicing we wanted (we like it hot)When seated you receive pappadum and an assortment of condiments which is a nice touch. I ordered the salmon tandoori for my main and my partner ordered the butter chicken. Vegetables came with the main as well as basmati rice. While the vegetables were okay, I really enjoyed the tandoori salmon - perfectly done. The butter chicken was plentiful and well cooked, not rubbery like it can be in some restaurants. But the butter chicken sauce was oddly thin and sweet. Iâd return and try some of the a la carte dishes instead of going with the table dâhote next time.

A must when we visit Montreal. A relatively easy walk from Place des Arts. This particular visit was made extra special when I was invited by the Sir to the kitchen to have a look at their authentic tandoor oven. Installed when the restaurant opened in 1984 it is a real clay oven that had a few inches of very hot charcoal in the bottom. Sitting beside it were portions of naan dough ready to be slammed against the wall. There is nothing like the char created by a well loved 35 year old tandoor. Modern gas fired/ceramic ovens are OK but it's like comparing oven roasting to authentic BBQ.But don't just come for the bread. We have never had a bad dish here. In fact my other half commented and I agree that this was the best Aloo Ghobi we have ever consumed. The family and staff are ready to guide you through the extensive menu and know that it will all be expertly prepared.
