This was a surprise birthday party for a colleague and only my second time there. They made everything exceptionally easy for us and ordering for such a large group was made remarkably straightforward by ordering the group platter for 10 (there were 9 of us, nobody went hungry for two days!)

Nestled at the corner of a small strip mall, I expected a fast food environment. I was wrong (don't tell my wife!). Though the atmosphere was simple and casual, there were actual menus, clean and orderly tables and awesome service. My server recommended the Mixed Grill with rice and a cup of chicken lemon herb soup. The Mixed Grill consisted of chunks of lamb, beef and chicken, all of which had great flavor and spice. The soup had a superb herb flavor. My total bill was $19, including a bottle of Mango Carrot juice. Worth every cent. Don't be turned off by the strip mall location. The food more than makes up for it.

I stopped here by chance and found a little treasure. The restaurant is plain looking but the staff were very friendly and the food was wonderful. Everyone tasted fresh, in-house made and was delicious. The manager told me I would get plenty of food, and boy did I!

Moving to Chicago many years ago required that anytime I go back to visit I had to go back for the food I loved and coney island will always be on the list. Is the food in the grand scheme of things a 4 star, maybe not, but to someone who can't get it in Chicago when I do get it it brings back memories. What is objectively fantastic is the Greek salad. My wife and I can't figure out what exactly makes it great, perhaps the dressing or the feta cheese (they give lots of it) but by and far it is the best Greek salad I've ever eaten. I also get the loose coney which if you've never had I do recommend.
