Settled by Europeans on Native American hunting grounds, the city of Baton Rouge has grown up under the influence of English, French, Spanish, and native cultures. The city is proud of its Cajun and Creole heritage, with clubs famous for playing the blues, and streets full of restaurants serving up everything from spicy Bayou foods to Caribbean home cooking. Salads ARE huge, and their tzatziki is REALLY good. Pita... no so much. Grilled chicken, great! Lamb for the gyro. Delicious. But something was missing. Service. Nice. But something was missing.

Visited here with friends while visiting from out of town. We arrived about 30-45min before closing and had a waitress named J’da. She was awesome and so gracious even though we were the last people in the restaurant.I’ve been here many times before and have never left disappointed. Portions are large, food quality is amazing. We recommend: fried cheese appetizer, hummus, soft pita, chicken schwarma plate, and honestly anything else on the menu.

My wife and I have eaten at Zorba's a couple of times a year for the last several years. Our meals and service has always been excellent. We went again a few days ago and our experience was even better than usual. We shared a wonderful grilled cheese dish and an excellent Greek salad as our first course. And we each had spectacular grilled shrimp dishes for our main courses. Mine included shrimp wrapped in a flaky dough with a terrific lemon sauce. We had very nice Greek wine. I believe that Zorba's is one of the very best restaurants in or around Baton Rouge.

After volunteering all morning at the Special olympics bowling on Airline Highway, my son and I skipped up Old Hammond Highway to the Serop's Cafe on Corporate Blvd. for a nice lunch before driving back to Mandeville. We had a Falafel appetizer, a Gyro plate, a vegetarian plate (with Baba Ganoush, Mousaka, Spinach pie, and Taboule (sp?)), and a to-go Swarma Chicken and Gyro plate for my wife and daughter. Of course my son and I brought a lot of our lunches home in to-go boxes too.The food was all very good and Francois did a nice job serving us. Being just noon on Sunday it wasn't very busy yet so very peaceful inside.
