Went here because of good reviews. Itâs a quirky friendly different style of place. Served terrible wine and mediocre beer while giving the impression of being knowledgeable. Only bad experience in Lucca. Even back street tiny cafes served delicious chilled wine. Too many other good places to visit. Not going back. Dear customer,We would like to apologize for your bad experience, however I clearly remember you and your attitude since the time you came in on Saturday.You just classified as a bad wine, one of the most remarkable Rose in Lucca:- Fattoria al Dotto, Carignano, Lucca 2017You can't also classify an American IPA as "mediocre beer" while you even didn't read who's the producer:- Founder's Session Ale. This gem is just near where we are staying. Wonderful food and lovely quiet, local hospitality from the husband and wife team. The slow food antipasto was full of taste sensations. The beef with black truffle and Pecorino was fabulous as was the Filatelli Calabresi Njuda pasta dish. We also had a lovely refreshing salad with a bottle of delicious dry white wine recommended by the knowledgeable owner. My husband, daughter and I finished the special meal with 3 spectacular desserts: Lemon curd on a shortcrust pastry, Ricotta cheesecake and a typical Apulian crust pastry with custard and chocolate. The latter 2 came with a fabulous bitter chocolate sauce. Bellisimo!

Weâve been to this place many times but it never ceases to amaze us! The location behind Piazza San Michele in Lucca couldnât be more beautiful and magical. The taglieri (a wooden board) filled with the most delectable locally made prosciutto, lardo, salame etc. is an experience to look at and taste! Served with Tuscan whole wheat bread and what else could be served with this other than a glass or bottle of red wine from the hills of Lucca. When in Lucca, you must try La Tana Del Boia.

The food was perfect, the price is reasonable, the staff were friendly and the chef was working in front of you, you could see the cooking process. They don't have much space though. They don't offer pizza.
