Sometimes there is nothing better than popping to the village pub to relax, unwind and be yourself ,which is exactly what you can do here. We are located in the pretty village of Ingatestone in the High Street next to the church and opposite Pellinis Bout
as usual we knew the restaurant would be good value and being a week day not too crowded, although within 30 minutes it was getting full, the service from the bar and waiting service was attentive but not intrusive, the calfs liver and bacon excellent as were all the meals cooked to perfection.Dear ReviewerMany thanks for taking the time to leave a review and for your kind comments which I will pass onto the team. I am pleased that you enjoyed your birthday treat and we hope to see you again very soon.Best wishesAndrea InceMember of The Star Inn Team

The starter was very nice, Nothing special. Smoked salmon and prawn pot, I ordered the seared sea bass fillets as a main, only to be told they ha run out, so I asked for salmon, they'd run out of that and also chicken. So my option was cod and chips. It was horrible. The chips were greasy and overcooked the fish was just crumbly. I had to scoop it up on the fork. My partner had roast beef. He asked for some horseradish, after waiting for about ten minutes he was told they were making him some, eventually when he had nearly finished the meal the staff came back and informed him that they couldn't find any. Horseradish with roast beef in any restaurant is the norm. What a waste of an afternoon and money. We didn't come out of there praising the food, needless to say.Thank you for letting us know about your recent visit to The George & Dragon. Thank you for leaving feedback.Kind regards George and Dragon team

The Fox & Goose offers several dining areas; a mixture of old and new. There is also outside seating in pretty surroundings for warmer days. Original features have been restored alongside contemporary additions that form the Gastro Pub that stands today.
13 people and 1 child for 6pm dinner for my 60th birthday on Saturday 31st-Aug. Staff were really nice and helpful and did not rush anybody. Tab was set up immediately for drinks for the party, so I did not have to worry about that. Not many starters were ordered but the mains were all served within a few minutes of eachother. There were several Veggie and Vegans for dinner and this was one of the main reasons I chose this pub, I have been here before and I also checked out the menus online beforehand so I knew that there were several options for the Veggies. The quality of food was very good and I can reccommend the lamb rump. I would certainly visit again. Another bonus was the option to have some dishes as a small starter or a larger main course. The staff made it a very enjoyable evening. Many thanks to you all.
