L'O De Source

This is the best restaurant in Spa, so I hope you get to eat there. It is a two person operation as far as I could tell.... husband and wife. Service was utterly professional and caring. Then came the food. The fish courses were exceptionally creative and delicious. But the wild-caught roasted quail (with buckshot) was simply superb. I do wish that Belgian restaurants would be a bit more generous with veggies but whatever.

Le Bouchon Gourmand

The restaurant is located next to the town of Spa, situated at a nice location near the Lac de Warfaaz. Although the waitress was very friendly, we had to wait quite long to receive the menu, place our order and receive our drinks and food. Getting the attention of the waitress also took long (at least 15-20 minutes), and when we wanted to ask the waitress about some of the dishes on the menu, she answered one question quickly and rushed away before we could ask another. Additionally and related to the above, it can be hard for non-French speaking persons to find out what to order, since the menu is in French and features mostly non standard dishes, and the service seemed to be French speaking only. Also, quite a lot of items featured on the menu could not be ordered since they were out of stock. Since the menu is presented on chalkboard I wondered, why not just wipe those items out? That being said, the food itself was pretty good. Since we arrived late and noticed service was slow, we only went for main courses. I had a steak with mushroom sauce (entrecote) and my partner had duck in orange sauce. We both asked for fries with our dish, yet only received one portion. If we wanted more fries, the waitress told us, all we had to was ask. Which left me to wonder: didn't we both order fries?! Yet again, the waitress was gone again right away. My partner did have some Rösti placed on her plate, so perhaps that counted as her 'fries'.Also, mind that you have to pay for everything separately. For example, when the waitress asked if I wanted sauce with the steak, I thought that would be included in the 26 euro price tag of the steak. Afterwards I found out I was charged 2 euro's extra for the sauce. The menu did not mention this. Then it was time for the dessert. I order a local Chouffe coffee, and my partner ordered Creme Brulee. A couple of minutes later the waitress came back to tell us both were out of stock. So we then both ordered some kind of coffee icecream in a tall glass, which was good but not that special. The above main dishes and desserts, together with two carafes of wine cost around 85 euro's. I found this quite expensive for what we got, although the food did taste nice. Together with the long waiting times I would think twice before visiting this restaurant again.

La Cour de la Reine

I simply love this restaurant. I'm fortunate enough to to visit Spa frequently for work, and every single time I never miss an opportunity to have dinner here. An excellent menu & extensive wine list with plenty of options. The aged steak is simply just divine and the service is discreet & punctual. Always with a smile :) There's nothing else I really say except, I'll be back! (Soon!!)

Restaurant le Marie-Catherine

Staying in malmedy and was recommended this restaurant by our hotel. The first problem was the complete lack of signage so the restaurant was hard to find . The second problem was that the car park was unlit so you can't see anything when the car headlights are turned off . The biggest problem however was the complete lack of decent service and the very long wait for our meal. We ordered our meal and waited twenty minutes for our starter which was ok, but we then waited over an hour for our main course by which time (1035pm) it was too late to eat. We politely asked for our bill and explained to the wife of the owner that it was too late to eat and were told that we had taken too long to order and that's why we had to wait so long !We were made to feel that it was our fault we waited nearly an hour and forty minutes for our main course from when we ordered. It would appear that the restaurant is not under the ownership as per the website and I can honestly say it was the worst dining experience I have had in Belgium. The attitude of madam owner was arrogant to say the least. Our starters were good but having waited so long for our main courses we had to leave which was Completely due to the restaurant and its appalling lack of service. Rating 1 / 10 . Madam owner check out your chef and kitchen before you slate your customers in future.
