Find out what Fast Food restaurants to try in Syracuse. Once one of ancient Greece’s most important cities, today Syracuse (Siracusa in Italian) is a lively town of about 125,000 on Sicily’s southeast coast. The city overflows with amazing remnants from its long history. Romans, Vandals and Normans are but a few of those who ruled here after the Greeks. Frido is a place that escapes conventional labels, where the needs of a fast meal meet a slow restorative mode. Fried and raw, two tasty faces of the same gastronomic coin for a quick break without having to give up quality and research.

It was a clean, bright restaurant with their varieties of caponata on display in the back; long bowls of oily black olives, vibrant grilled red peppers, and mixed caponata...blue black eggplant, roasted garlic, red bell pepper...we were seated at a small wooden table quickly. I ordered a glass of white wine and sara had sparkling water. (still or sparkling are your choices). The seafood looked simply prepared and dominated the menu. Sara ordered grilled swordfish steak, and i ordered mixed fried, a melange of squid, shrimps, and lovely whole anchovies. anyone who has eaten seafood at a coastal restaurant knows that you can spoil seafood quickly from overcoating, overfrying, letting it sit too long, etc. The little wooden box of frutti di mare were perfect. Piping hot, dashed in a little flour and salt, fried to crisp succulence. I snapped down a sardine, tail and all, quite hot. Then my salate de arance (orange) was brought, a lovely fresh salad of quartered skinned orange, adorned with slices of tender fennel, bits of dried tomato, and a very light vinaigrette. A lovely citrusy foil to the crispy fried seafood. Sara had the caponata, warmed and delicious, with bread. The swordfish was grilled fast and the steak was fresh and moist, not overcooked. It was definitely a seafood bar...the food was brought lickety split, and the service was spot on and very warm. I hope to go there again.

A street food with a modern format but with an ancient philosophy. In a sandwich you can find all classic Sicilian recipes, revisited to satisfy even the most demanding palate. Meat, fish, cheese and sweets only homemade.
We went there because of recommendations on Tripadvisor and ot was a good decision. Itâs a very small plce with only few paninis to choose. The one I took was vegetarian with warm eggplants, red peppers and tomatoes. Taste was lovely!

We risked coming late on Saturday night (the only night they donât accept reservations) and lucked out by getting seated right away. It took awhile to get noticed/our order taken, but all was forgiven once the pizza arrived. It was the only pizza we had in Ortygia so we donât have another placeâs style to compare it to. We both demolished our pies and were very, very happy. The bread they serve is also quite good, and perhaps a 7 grain? Not many tourists here at all.Thank you for your review. We are happy that you enjoyed our pizza. The fact that ours is not a "tourist" venue is a sign of quality, local patrons are very demanding!we hope to see you soon
