It is a suburb of the nearby city of Lafayette. The population was 7,526 at the 2010 census, up from 6,120 in 2000. Its name is derived from the Cajun French word for buzzard: the spot where the community was settled was one where large flocks of buzzards roosted in the bald cypress trees. The name means "carrion crow."

Had dinner there w/ some coworkers, terrible food&service..greasy (& cold) fries, wilted greens dried out & totally tasteless veggies.Meat tasted both salty & rancid.Felt bad for friends, who were also turned off by the VERY POOR experience.NEVER AGAIN

I ordered a 2 piece chicken dinner and requested spicy chicken Wasn't asked if I wanted white or dark meat. What I got was a breast and thigh and was given regular chicken not spicy. My husband ordered a 3 wing dinner. Very poor value for the money. Didn't know a restaurant would ever serve such tiny wings. Seemed to be staffed by teenagers, probably could use some supervision of someone a bit older
