Stoped at the outlet mall (its seen better times) at lunch time. Looking for a quick bite we deceided on Carlâs inside, not the drive thru. The counter service staff we friendly and professional. Ordered a Western Bacon Cheese combo (a bit on the dry side single patty) and a Famous Star with no cheese (it was not too dry, single patty). The burger meat was on the thinner side but covers the bun nicely. The combo camecwith a drink and fries. Fries are average. The highlight was the service.

I never darken the door of a McDonald's, but I craved an inexpensive chocolate dipped ice cream cone. What a surprise-this McDonald's has actual atmosphere! The tasteful decor includes designer colors. They have booths with walls that muffle the noise and even the menu board has more subtle lights. The wi-fi area offers higher stools at the plug-in bar. The food's the same, of course, but if you had to eat at a McDonald's this one is your best choice.

We have eaten quite a bit at Firehouse Subs, and have never had a bad experience. The service tonight was friendly (as always) and my sandwich was promptly made. The turkey bacon ranch was warm and delicious. To me, Firehouse Subs in Mount Vernon has raised the bar for fast food with its excellent sandwiches and service.

Staying along Riverside (Days Inn) leaves you few places to choose for dining. Fortunately the A & W was right next door and provided great food although nothing unique to the region. If you're right off the highway, this offers a good first night meal.
