A relaxed casual cafe in the heart of Whangamata. All day breakfast, lunch and evening dining.
I had a chicken burger with fries. It was billed as piri piri but had no heat in it at all, so not as described. I was charged $3 extra for gluten free $27 total i.e. two slices of gluten free bread in lieu of a burger roll. Not good value and the extra cost was added without any mention. Donât think I saw any of the staff smile. One of those places where lots of staff rearranging slices and muffins and ignoring the customer waiting to order. kinda set the tone for a mediocre at best experience.

Ill be surprised if this place is still operating come Xmas. The town was full at Easter and all the hospitality outlets were busy, except this one...that should have told us something! The lunch menu is abysmal, half a dozen options all up including 2 burgers. Anyway, we ordered at the bar and after 40 minutes asked were our meals were...coming was the answer...a bit like Xmas. The meals eventually arrived and we collected cutlery from some of the many empty tables around us as there was none on our table and we weren't offered any. My advice...don't bother.
Ying's @ the RSA. Thai and European cuisine. Open for lunch and dinner. Family friendly dining. All welcome.
We were so tired after a 600 km drive that we walked across the road from the motel not expecting much. Delighted by the Thai food, fresh, well-presented and sure Westernised but delicious green curry and stir fry, very reasonable prices and a European menu also ( enormous serving of roast pork and scot h fillets were delivered to the next table). Lovely service, clean busy kitchen, lots of space and drinks from the bar.
