Open 7 days a week with a fantastic range of menus Taylors has something for everyone. A modern breakfast menu, freshly made cakes, delicious coffee, light lunches, the unique West Country Tapas menu and our full evening menu compliment a superb wine list
Came across Taylorâs a bit by accident, but what a wonderful surprise! The staff is most professional and knowledgeable. Interesting bar with mixed drinks, wine and beer. The food is to die for I had a beef brisket and didnât need a knife â some of the best beef Iâve had in a long time. Pumpkin soup and fish dishes all highly recommended by wife. And the âpuddingâ if you are even mildest interest in lemon meringue pie you must order it here.

Managed to get a table in the very popular gastro-pub on a Sunday evening. The food was excellent, the service attentive and friendly and the ale well kept and refreshing. Almost five stars ..... but not quite. The duck dish I had was well cooked and I enjoyed it though in hindsight perhaps I should have had a side dish of something green..... actually great place to eat.... if in Tavistock book in advance!

Not sure why it's taken us so long to try here! As seafood lovers, we were enticed by the Special 5 course Lobster & Crab Menu @ £65 including matched wines for each course. What transpired was a perfect evening. I find it very difficult to find anything to criticise (maybe the bread was a little "heavy" but that is being churlish). After delightful amûse bouche, we were treated to a series of perfectly balanced, perfectly portioned and perfectly cooked dishes, culminating in a superb Butter Poached Lobster, Crab & Fennel tartlette - exquisite. The Lobster Cerviche and Crab & Lobster Ravioli desrve special mention too.Complementing this was a well organised and plentiful team of servers. Friendly and attentive, neither "starchy" nor too informal, too rapid (almost) nor too slow - spot on in fact. The setting is marvellous and the ambience is one of calm, friendly assuredness. Smart casual; not formal. (though perhaps the curtains and blinds in need of a revamp?)We really did have one of the most excellent meals we'd enjoyed for a long time. Inevitably, it is very highly recommended.Dear Jamie M,What a delightful review to read! Thank you so much for taking the time to share it.We are so pleased you found the setting marvellous, the service friendly, and the food excellent. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future. Please keep an eye on our website for all the latest events and offers. We still have a few tables left for our French evening coming up on Wednesday 23rd October, but it is booking up quickly!Kind regardsCandace and the Horn of Plenty Team

Another excellent meal at Church lane. Food was flawless. Finding a nice restaurant in a country town that serves GOOD vegan food can be a challenge but their vegan pizzas are delicious!.Serving was brilliant as usual and their non alcoholic cocktails are scrummy too!.One tip though...when there are no vegan desserts on the menu given out maybe let vegan guests know that there are yummy goodies downstairs near the bar in a glass display cabinet!. I watched my friend eat her delicious looking crepe and it was only when we were leaving and paying the bill that I spotted the flapjack etc!I did buy one to go and it was very nice so i will know for next time!
