Having lived in Germany for a few years, I was looking forward to some bratwurst and sauerkraut - a staple of meals in Germany. Loved the bratwurst guy selling from a cart on the street corner - with a ready supply of mustard. I couldn't find bratwurst on the menu, so I asked waitress why they had no bratwurst ! She said, âoh, we do. It's the bockwurst - bratwurst is the same as bockwurst.â Well. It isn't. That started my lunch off on a bad foot. So, I decided to forego wurst, and have a Reuben sandwich. Bad decision. This was one of the worst Reuben sandwiches I ever had. The corned beef was a single sheet of tough shoe leather - could hardly bite through it.The selection of beer was, however, good (I was hoping to find Becks, which I drank all the time while in Germany. No luck here.) The service was good - pleasant and attentive. Not a good meal - won't be back.

We had dinner here and found the interior to be very interesting and uniquely decorated. Service is personal and friendly. However, we were disappointed in each of the three main courses which we ordered. None were particularly memorable, unique or tasty. My pasta was far too firm, and the veal was not nearly as soft as I would expect in a stew. Cod is also not what I would expect in a restaurant with these prices. The soup of the day was far too spicy and not enjoyable. However, the desserts are all homemade and superb. Overall it is a rather expensive way to have ordinary food, except for the desserts.

Tucked into a corner of Botetourt and & York Street, Voila, with it's soft lighting and eclectic decor, is a local gem. The restaurant sits tucked away in one of the city's oldest historic neighborhoods, complete with cobblestone streets and some of the f
This past weekend my wife and I were joined by another couple and met there for dinner. I cannot begin to describe just how perfect an evening we enjoyed. Our server is a local/regional/national treasure...she could not have been any better. She was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and absolutely spot on with her recommendations. Her description of one of the fish dish specials resulted in two orders. All throughout the meal she was attentive while not being overbearing or obtrusive. The food was simply amazing! Well prepared and served, we could not have asked for a better meal. The wine list was compact yet varied and delicious. All in all, a perfectly fantastic dinner and evening. It has been a while since my wife and I last dined there. I can assure you that we will be doing so with more regularity in the future.YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!! PREPARE TO BE AMAZED!!!

This was the second time my husband & I dined at this restaurant. We had early reservations before a performance at the local opera house on a Friday night. Certainly did not disappoint. Holly, our server was personable, knowledgeable about the menu selections, and made drink suggestions which enhanced our dining experience. The menu offerings were varied and unique. Always a surprise are the appetizer and entree specials. I would highly recommend this restaurant in downtown Norfolk for a truly pleasant dining experience.
