Marchese del Grillo Restaurant is an old Villa at 5 km from the town of Fabriano. It was built at the behest of the Marquise Onofrio Del Grillo and it was made famous by the movie of the same name, with the actor Alberto Sordi. It is a warm and welcoming

Let's begin by saying the personnel at this restaurant were welcoming, charming and likeable. But that's where it starts and finishes. The restaurant name translates as "The Pleasures of the Flesh"., and they specialise in meat dishes. I chose this place because it is rated #1 in Fabriano and was just around the corner from my hotel. I began with a Rollata - a type of roulade containing ham, cheese and vegetables. It arrived very quickly, and had that "uniform" appearance of being mass-produced in a food factory. There is no way this could have been made up in the kitchen and produced so quickly. The taste confirmed this; it had that unmistakeable blandness that we see so often in the UK with products supplied to Pubs and poor restaurants by the likes of Brake Bros. It had been reheated, I imagine in a microwave. (Later that evening I suffered a severe bout of indigestion with an acid stomach; during the night I was eventually sick. For sure this was down to the Rollata. For mains I ordered a Bistecca. In my experience this means a trimmed, bone-free cut of beef, grilled or pan fried, tender and juicy - maybe a sirloin, rump or entrecote. I was surprised to receive a cut that looked like a T-bone, with extensive amounts of fat. The fat was really gristle, and had that stale taste of old meat. This was not a Bistecca Fiorentina, as it did not include the Porterhouse cut which is essential to a true Fiorentina. It was really a Costata [or Chop]. The meat turned out to have come from Argentina, not for example from the famous Italian breed, Chianina. It was tough, chewy, and had undoubtedly been frozen at some stage of its life. It was truly dire. I had a nice bottle of rosso piceno with this, and frankly the wine was the only enjoyable experience. I don't know what your views are on animals in restaurants, but personally I am not a fan. A customer brought a dog in - well behaved I must say - and many of the staff stopped to pat it and have their hands licked by the creature. I watched a girl, having done this with the dog, go back to her bar station and continue to serve drinks without washing her hands. Same thing with a couple of waiters. Now, we all know where dogs' tongues have been! So, I ask you, would you let a dog lick your hands and then without washing go and prepare food for your children? I think not. For this reason I am even going to mark down the staff, although they were very nice people. If this is Numero Uno in Fabriano, I don't think I'll eat out again during my stay!

We were taken to this restaurant by our Italian colleagues. One of the best restaurants I ever ate. We went there for two lunches. The first course was delicious, the salads, the baked potatos were great. The main course one's I ate spaghetti with mushrooms and thraphells and the day after steak with fried vegetables both dishes was great. The atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasant.

The restaurant located in the old city of Fabriano, the restaurant designed beautifully. I ordered Toscana hamburger with bear, the hamburger arrived without any bun only around 400gr of meat and potatoes. This was one of the best hamburger that I ever had. For dessert we took a fondu, that was delicious. Great place to eat a good dinner.
