Reviews on European food in East Palo Alto, California, United States. East Palo Alto (abbreviated E.P.A.) is a city in San Mateo County, California, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population of East Palo Alto was 28,155. It is situated on the San Francisco Peninsula, roughly halfway between the cities of San Francisco and San Jose. To the north and east is the San Francisco Bay, to the west is the city of Menlo Park, and to the south the city of Palo Alto. Despite being called "East" Palo Alto, this is a misnomer, as the city is precisely due north of Palo Alto. While often incorrectly assumed to be part of the city of Palo Alto, East Palo Alto has always been a separate entity since its founding as an unincorporated community. It is also in San Mateo County, while Palo Alto is in Santa Clara County. The two cities are separated only by San Francisquito Creek and, largely, the Bayshore Freeway (the vast majority of East Palo Alto is northeast of the freeway, while all of the residential part of Palo Alto is southwest of the freeway). The revitalization projects in 2000, and high income high-tech professionals moving into new developments, including employees from Google and Facebook, have begun to eliminate the cultural and economic differences between the two cities. East Palo Alto and Palo Alto share both telephone area codes and postal ZIP codes.

The taste is good especially of Swedish meat balls. I would have given it 4 stars but for the long queue one has to stand in for getting food. It has good dining area and really very helpful for sitting and dining after a leg breaking stroll in the vast IKEA store. So you can give some relief to your tired feet before embarking on another exploration of the store. Definitely recommend it.

Zola is one of Palo Alto's best restaurants. French bistro classics served up perfectly prepared. The steak tartare was spectacular equaling the meal I recently enjoyed at Thomas Keller's. Service is outstanding. One tip, avoid sitting at the high table with bar stools. It works OK for a drink or a snack but is positively horrid for a 2-hour dinner and you'll leave with a sore back.

Pastis continues to be one of my favorite French restaurants in the area. The atmosphere is relaxed and homey and the food is soooo good. The mussels are still great as are the french fries that accompany them. Yum, yum.We had gone to California Street to eat a different restaurant but when we saw the long line, we automatically decided to eat at Pastis. Fortunately, we didn't have to wait long.

Hard to get reservation was truly worth it. The Calamari starter was ok, but then the main meals were all very good. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff competent and cheery, and the whole event was a joy. We all left happy and wanting to come back...
