In town for a college visit and Trip Advisor comes through again with a gem for lunch. Our server was so nice and the homemade menu selections were vast. We loved the chili, potato soup, bacon cheeseburger and the baked meatloaf. Coffee was great and prices even better.

My daughter and grandchildren and I stop for lunch. Two of us wanted breakfast and one lunch. Everything was yummy and waitress was nice. My granddaughter asked for toast to eat with her fried egg. I thought it was nice that they gave her two pieces of toast. Sadly it was no gift charged me 169 for two pieces of bread.. little expensive for toast

This is the classic local breakfast joint. I would never have stopped in if someone hadn't recommended it to me, but the food is delicious. Each time we have eaten here, we have been treated like long lost friends by the server/owner. Last fall, when I hosted a mini-reunion weekend for my dad and his brothers, we took them here for breakfast and it was a huge hit!Be aware -- they ONLY take cash. Inevitably we have to make a run to a nearby ATM when the bill arrives. Wish I could remember this ahead of time or there was a sign on the door. It's a delightful local place. Chocolate chip pancakes are to die for! It is pricey to put together the plate I want: pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon. Seems to only be available a la carte.Still - worth a visit.

If you're in the mood for some breakfast at a classic diner, this is a great place to go in Valparaiso. Good regular cup of coffee, plus your typical egg dishes, pancakes, quiche, etc. Nothing fancy, but good homemade food at reasonable prices. The customer service is great.
