Senior specials Monday through Thursday. Food prices just raised about a $1/dinner, but basically still a good value. You get a choice of salad or the like, with soup and a choice of potato.

We had been driving all day and needed some dinner. We got off the OH Turnpike and checked our options. We went past many fast-food places and then saw Gourmé Family Restaurant. There were several local cars parked in their lot; a good sign. My wife ordered the Pierogis and Perch platter with Soup and Green Beans. I had Their "City Chicken" (a Pork dish) with Baked Potato, Salad, and Green Beans. Everything was hot and fresh. Service was great!

This was a desperation selection. Neither of us knew what we wanted, so after fruitlessly driving around, we stopped here. Yes, the clientele is mostly grey hairs and looking at the 4 PM special, but once you check out the menu you find there's a lot to choose from. I chose the corned beef served between Latkes. I got two "sandwiches" and was pleasantly pleased that the cormed beef was tender and very flavorful. The Latkes were excellent and complimented the corned beef. My wife chose the fried Lake Erie Perch. The serving was very generous, so much that she had to pack one plank to go. Her only complaint was that whoever filleted the fish did a poor job getting the bones. Service was above average, it looked like they were short-handed but doing pretty well.

My wife and I have lived in the Lorain/Elyria area for forty years. We are spening our summer experiencing local establishments. Oh Boy has been there since 1954 (before I started o drive) and has obviously been doing something right. We had - what else - the Oh Boy burger which is a double 1/8 pound burger on a three-tier bun, similar to the iconic Manner's Big Boy or the modern Big Mac. The Oh Boy sauce is unique, more mayo based than the pink sauces of other similar sandwiches. I rate the sandwich very high on my list and plan on going back. The fries and onion rings were also very good. Atmosphere was what I expected - a diner with stools at the counter ala Manner's. Each booth has an old-style jukebox system which unfortunately has to be programmed and paid for from a central unit by the door. I recommend it as a great bit of nostalgia and wish them well. The experience was fun. Wish there were some old Chevys and Fords outside :-)
