My dad's name is Farrell, so this was on the "to try" list. Very crowded, but staff friendly and paid attn to details. That said, it's a burger place. Mine was a bit dry, but dad had cheese with his and said it wasn't dry at all. Will eat again when in area, but we found couple of places that I will most certainly revisit before this one. Of note, it is a local favorite and parking lot always full when we go by.

This is a small town diner that has been open for around 30 years or so. That being said, it looks as if there have been no updates done to the interior or exterior in all that time. The outside needs a good sweeping. Cigarette butts were everywhere around the front door. However, the restaurant was packed and every time I have ever driven by, it is full. This was my first visit. I chose to get the buffet. It was Sunday and the Church crowd was just finishing up. I just had to wait a few minutes to have fresh fried chicken and a new pan of cornbread dressing put out. I had fried chicken, dressing & giblet gravy, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans and yeast rolls. The yeast rolls were delicious! Homemade like my Mom used to make. The fried chicken was hot, juicy, crispy and well seasoned. It was very good. The mashed potatoes were good. The cornbread dressing was good but a little under seasoned. Needed salt and a little more celery & onion. I did enjoy it though. The giblet gravy was bland. I liked the boiled eggs in it and the giblets. The gravy itself needed seasoning and turkey drippings. The veggies were nothing special. The server was so nice and working so hard for the crowd. The food is home made. I enjoyed my meal. It is what it is...an old diner. I would go back just for the fried chicken alone. Warning...they allow smoking in one section. I thought Kentucky banned smoking in all restaurants but I guess I was wrong. They need to ban smoking in all restaurants. I have asthma and it is not a pleasant environment to walk into. Thankfully I was seated at the opposite end of the restaurant where the smoking section was. Oh, one more thing, the buffet is a very tight squeeze in a corner and there is no clear direction on which way to go. People were going around it two ways and it was a little uncomfortable to squeeze by. The vegetable section is blocked off by the end of the salad bar, so, it seems an awkward set up.

I had the catfish special, which was one large piece of catfish, fries, slaw, hush puppies, white beans, and a hoe cake. It was a lot of food for a great price! The catfish was cooked perfectly- crispy, not dried out, and not greasy. I would have given it five stars, but they had air fresheners that really overpowered the place and almost gave me a headache.
What an incredible, and far overlooked, piece of amazing right here in Trigg County. No one should pass up the opportunity to visit this establishment. The atmosphere is wonderful, the greeting and interaction by everyone in the resturant is beyond compare. And what a robust, abd delicious, menu that they offer. Regardless of how finicky, or plain, your palate is you are sure to leave satisfied beyond any expectations you came in with.
