I visited Shane's Deli yesterday for lunch. The Reuben, again, was excellent. In fact, it is top notch. But the problem with Shane's is that they don't take cleanliness seriously. And this is a problem. How the health department allows this place to exist in this condition is beyond me--perhaps it is their Reuben sandwich. But this is flat out ridiculous. This time when I was throwing my trash away, I happened to notice how dirty the trash can is. In fact, it was so filthy that I almost didn't want to throw my trash away. This simply is inexcusable. Bust out the soap and water and clean this dive. You've got great potential, but if the front end of this restaurant looks this way, then what does the place look like in the back?

For a little deli, this has really great food. The lunch specials are large enough to feed two, are home made, changed daily and are affordably priced. Their daily "soup and sandwich" special includes home made soup and a half sandwich of your choice. Can't say enough good things about this deli!!!!

We come here often. My husband grew up in Charleston Il so he has been a JJ customer from the beginning. We ordered 3 sandwiches. 1 tuna, 1 john, and the gargantuan!! Well the tuna was so scarce on the bread that I had to spread it evenly or half the sandwich would have been all bread. The tuna had too much onion this time so bad all day no matter if I brushed, flossed, or chewed anything else I tasted onion!!! The John sandwich again because it was not spaced out on the bread it looked cheaply made the gargantuan looked like a sandwich should!! I love jimmy John's but you have to make these sandwiches like you would want to eat them!!!
