Really good, under-rated sandwiches. Good, under-the-radar deli counter for a grab and go sandwich. I had a roast beef club. Very good. Not a fan of Mister Bee chips, which is all they carry. Anxious to try some of their salads though. They were out when I stopped in (well past lunch rush). This is a lunch counter. No place to sit down. Grab and go.
I have patronized Sherry at all of her locations over the years, and she has the best subs in town hands down. But .... she won't get her air conditioning fixed. From what former employees have told us, she had a used ac unit installed and it doesn't have the capacity to properly cool the building and she won't do anything to correct it. This is now the second summer the restaurant has been too uncomfortable to stay and eat inside. I tried it a few weeks ago when the temperature was around 85 outside, and I swear the temperature was over 90 degrees inside the building. We tried it again today hoping that maybe it would be better (it's 75 outside today) and the temperature inside had to be a balmy 93 degrees ... with the front door even open. We walked it, and then we walked out and went and ate at another restaurant down the street. If you do the math and have three regular customers that patronize you once a week with each one buying a sub, can of coke and a bag of chips, and they quit eating there May through September each year because of inadequate air conditioning, that would total to around $620 to $650. How many other customers are not patronizing Das Rookhaus during the summer months either because of this air conditioning situation? I'm sure the amount of money that she is losing is more than equal to what a new system would cost. Oh well .... see you in the Fall Das Rookaus!!

While the subs are good, you usually have to wait quite a while for service as there is usually one person at the register and one other person fixing the subs. If there are people in front of you or if they are ordering multiple subs, the subs are not worth waiting 15 or 20 minutes to order one.

Wide variety of sandwiches and cold salads. All are exceptional. You cannot go wrong here. I typically get the Southwest Panini or the grilled cheese. The breads are superbly grilled and the sandwiches are deeply flavorful. The chef salad is enough for two meals. Oh, by the way they also have daily specials of quiche and soup. I almost forgot how wonderful the quiche is. The crust is flaky and the cheese oozes out. Man, I think I will eat there again tomorrow!!!!
