Find out what Contemporary restaurants to try in Winnipeg. Any city that can be the butt of a Simpson's joke ("That's it! We're all going back to Winnipeg!") and simultaneously one of the most vibrant cultural centers in Canada is tops in our book. The city's history of isolation and self-sufficiency means that Winnipeggers are unpretentious and sincere (and fun-loving enough to name Homer an honorary citizen). Though the winters are long and cold, there are plenty of indoor activities to both keep you warm and stimulate your imagination.

We arrived for an early Saturday dinner with a group of seven and no reservation. We were told that as long as we could be done in 2 hours, they had a table for us. Although our waiter was attentive, we waited over 90 minutes from the time we sat down until our food arrived. No other tables near us were served any earlier. As soon as one member of our party looked like they were naring the end of their meal, we had buspersons hovering to remove the plates and cutlery. If the dining room manager knew that we wouldn't get our food in time to make the 2 hour limit, they should have warned us. We wouldn't have stayed. The portions are massive, the pre-dinner buns were the highlight of the meal but since they contain pinenuts, some members of our group couldn't have any due to allergies. The meals were fine but there was no stand out dish.

Located at Inn at the Forks, SMITH is a celebration of the truth of honest food created from the diversity of the lands and the waters of Canada. A new culinary experience built on craftsmanship and a dedication to the finer points. Every guest is welcome
My niece got married Friday at the Fringe and dinner was Saturday at the Smith Restaurant at Inn at the Forks. We were all set up in a private area for dinner complete with a wonderful buffet to choose from, the food was so good, followed by desserts that tasted like grandma used to make. Very congenial staff, wonderful bright spacious surroundings with large windows for viewing. This was an amazing experience and we will enjoy the memories that were created this day. Lots of parking behind the hotel for gatherings such as this. You need to try this restaurant, you donât need to wait for a special event.... you gotta eat here

Special night out for dinner and Fusian Grill did not disappoint. Canadian wine rules on the menu. We donât mind supporting our wine makers from Canada. A bottle of NKâMIP Merlot was enjoyed with dinner. We shared two appetizers - a pickled beet, pear and goat cheese salad and samosas with wild rice, lentils, cumin and coriander serves with yogurt and chimichurri. The salad was good but the samosas were fabulous! Great flavours. The grilled beef was a medium rare rib eye served with IPA onion jam, mushrooms and chef made tater tots. The grilled Arctic char was served atop parsnip ravioli and with spinach and mushroom fricassee, beet strain and pickled shallots. Both entrees were served with local roasted root vegetables- rutabaga, carrot, parsnip and a slice of zucchini. Prices were on the high side but we really appreciate the Canadian wine and exclusive use local products on the menu. Somethings are worth paying for.Hi Margaret! Thank you so much for taking the time to write us such an amazing review! At fusion grill, it is our mission to serve wonderful fresh ingredients of the highest quality to our guests!! Another goal we have is for our guests to discover the real Canadian prairie cuisine and wines, which we are glad you enjoyed. We can't wait to see you again soon!

Contemporary and fresh with an emphasis on local, Fairtrade & sustainable ingredients. Located within the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. Admission to CMHR is not required to dine.
Beautiful spot for lunch on a summer day. Sheena was our server and she was great. We all enjoyed lunch. The sangria with white wine was not only tasty but well presented. The poâboy sandwich was great....apparently one of their most ordered items! I enjoyed the chicken salad wrap and the soup of the day (curried cauliflower and chickpea) was great. The quinoa salad was good and huge! The club sandwich was also good. Great buns with the sandwiches and the fries were awesome!
