This was the first really disappointing meal I had at Ho Mei. Usually the food is excellent. They had to defrost the chicken for the dish as it was around nine in the evening that I went in and the chicken was dried out and over cooked when they prepared the dish. It was slightly hard and not juicy like it normally is when served. They need to stop trying to close early and clean up as after my order, they got two big orders around closing time and then really had to cook. The Fried Rice, Egg Roll and Rice were properly made and tasted good. The service is always welcoming and friendly.

They make tofu-based chicken, beef, fish dishes, all well-made. Good noodle and soup dishes. Well-priced. A local watering-hole, often crowded.

Beijing Chinese restaurant should have opened as a sit down restaurant as originally planned. It really is a very nicely decorated restaurant, pleasant to eat in and the people at the counter are very nice. The food is average take out Chinese food. It is not good but not bad. They should try being a little more creative with their food. Some of their dishes are good as long as you stay away from traditional Cantonese dishes.

Jumbo changed hands for the fifth time in its long history in Hasbrouck Heights and even though the food is much improved from its previous four owners, it still is okay. I had a lo mein and an eggroll for lunch and it was good but not great. Maybe it was the new owners getting used to their customers and their tastes. It warrants another visit.
