We thought we would treat ourselves and stay in the best hotel in Montreux. We were surprised that the room was small and tired with a rusty shower door which leaked. On arriving we expected and were told there would be water in the room. There wasnât. We wanted to make two decaf coffees there was only one. Three teabags of different types, we like the same tea. The milk was the horrible little containers. No biscuits or fruit without paying. $5 for a very small toblerone or bag of crisps , $19 for a miniature scotch! A rip off !!! I went to reception to ask about the water and was told it would be delivered in the evening. I said there was a trolley outside our door with water and small platters of fruit. I was told this was for rooms who paid $1500 a night ! Us paupers were only paying $440 !!!!!On check in they swiped an extra $100 per night for breakages or extras we may spend. Astonishing !! They told us all hotels now do this. We informed them we had just returned from an excellent NH hotel in Turin who didnât and looked after us superbly offering us soft drinks and snacks on arrival in reception and information about the city. The public areas are very splendid and so was the view of the lake from our room for which we naturally paid more. The restaurants were good if you are ok paying $34 for a club sandwich and $9.50 for a bottle of sparkling water !Obviously this place was not for mere mortals like us. I pointed out we have been better treated in a Holiday Inn. Five star ? Yes a great spa and facilities but very poor customer service.

The Museum is situated in a historical building in the old town of Montreux and it is less than 10 minutes walking distance from the main train station. Founded in the early years of the worldwide known Montreux Jazz Festival The Museum has been the place
The best experience, the best meal, and the absolute best service our entire stay in Montreux. I ordered the La fribourgeoise half-half (traditional fondue) and my husband ordered the Trilogy BBQ Grill; the combination was perfect to share! The fondue was delicious, served with perfectly risen bread. The BBQ grill was so much fun, and the carousel of sauces gave us so many options (I loved the garlic, he loved the curry, we both loved the spicy!). Four reasons this places has to be on your short list:1.) The main meals listed above2.) The views3.) The service; the two women and gentleman that night were the most gracious and warm we encountered our whole stay in Montreux. And 4.) The Swiss meringue with ice cream and double cream Gruyére (That cream, hidden at the bottom of an already decadent dessert, was absolutely delicious, and would be enough to visit Restaurant Le Museum alone)Donât read any more reviews, donât browse the menu for what looks good, just go. I promise you wonât be disappointed.

Welcome to La Brasserie J5! The restaurant is open 7/7 from 8.30am to 11pm, and the kitchen from 11.30am to 10.30pm. In a relaxed atmosphere with slight retro accents and an opening towards the main avenue, I suggest you to discover the dishes from the me
We took a seat outside at 11:05.They open up at 11:00. 5 other people were sitting outside an already drinking coffee. After 5 minutes my wife went inside to ask if it is kind of selfservice or order at the bar or something like that. She was then asked what she wants in a very unpolite way and was told that we can not eat something because the kitchen closes at 11:30. Are you kidding!? They open up at 11:00 and the kitchen closes at 11:30?!We will never visit this place anymore.Dear Sir,Thank you for your review.Unfortunately there has been a huge misunderstanding of your wife, which was probably because of the language barriers. She has indeed come inside after waiting for 5 minutes to ask ironically if it was self service. Our professional waitress then kindly asked her what she could help her with. Our restaurant opens at 08h30 in the morning for coffee but the kitchen only opens at 11h30 and is continuously open until 22h00.The opening hours of the restaurant can be found on the door, windows and online. We are sorry for your experience but we find your comments and review very unfair.Best regards,The Direction

Dinner Reservations during the jazz festival in Montreux are at a premium. Our friend from the area suggested Safran because we could get a reservation and we were bringing the family pet so the Terrace made sense.Being at the heart of the action lakeside with a lake view was quite nice, but the food was pretty average. To be fair, it's the only restaurant meal we had on our short tour of Switzerland and the high prices in Switzerland generally make reviews difficult if you don't have a fair comparison from a value perspective. That being said, what we had was about the quality of a mid level chain restaurant in North America. Fish and Chips (with Wasabi Mayo) Tandoori chicken, and grilled perch with French fries were the choices, tasty enough but nothing too much especially representative of the area.Service was attentive however It would have been nice if our server had mentioned my meal came with a small side salad at the time that I ordered a salad appetizer.
