Bottom line up front... This is an uninviting, unfriendly, smoke-filled hole in the wall. Every single person stairs at you when you walk in. Not a smile in the joint. Just "ICK". We couldn't leave fast enough.

My son wanted to try alligator tail so I ran across this restaurant because they are one of the few places in Texarkana that serve alligator. I didn't realize this place existed but I'm glad we found it. We (of course) had alligator, which my son loved. We also had Cajun popcorn, fried shrimp, fries, hushpuppies, and a salad. The shrimp was large and obviously hand-breaded. The fries were homemade and hand cut. We like everything we tried. I will be adding this to my list of favorite places to eat in Texarkana.
Where to eat Southwestern food in Texarkana: The Best Restaurants and Bars
Basically a Southern fast-food restaurant. I've eaten here many times. The burgers are not worth ordering, but the catfish (their specialty) is good, especially if you ask for it broiled, not fried. The oyster po-boys are delicious as well. They often have unique items on the menu like frog legs and aligator, if you're into that. The staff are friendly, and if you dine-in the waitress will make sure your cup of iced tea or soda is always full. The restaurant is an old converted fast-food restaurant which could use a bit of TLC, but it's clean. If you're looking for a good meal in the $8-10 range, you'll never go hungry at Sam's.
