It had been quite a while since our last visit to Kimmie's. With all the road construction going on around it for the Lakeview overpass it was just too much of a headache. However the construction is done, the overpass complete, and it was time to go to Kimmie's for breakfast.Located on the corner of Lakeview and Orangethorpe, the restaurant sits in a corner right up against the overpass wall. On this visit it was my wife, myself, and our young grandson. We arrived about 10:30 on a Sunday morning and had about a 20 minute wait. We were able to get a booth up against the window which made my grandson's day. He's a train freak and there are tracks right across the street. He loved watching the trains go by.Food: Very good. I ordered the Irish Benedict, my wife the Kimmie's combo with pancakes and sausage (other options were French toast or waffle, and bacon), and the kid had mini pancakes with a sausage link and chocolate milk. The food arrived hot and fresh. The only complaint I had with my meal was it was WAY too much. Two poached eggs with hollandaise sauce on a bed of corned beef hash resting on an english muffin. It also includes your choice of hash browns or red skinned potatoes (my choice). I didn't finished it but not without lack of trying. It was very good.Service: Not fast, but not slow. What I would call leisurely. They don't rush you, so it's a very relaxing meal. Best part about the service, everyone was very friendly and had a smile on their face. Without a doubt we will be back. Good food, friendly service, at reasonable prices. Really, what more could you ask for?

Hidden Gem...great food.
Country Kitchen with no gimmicks. Standard breakfast fare, eggs, waffles, french toast, etc, done with speed, skill, caring and a nice homey atmosphere. Very price conscious. We were greeted and sat down instantly though the place was nearly full. We had coffee in front of us within 30 seconds and it was good. Service was very swift and the servers cared about our experience.I had Chicken Fried Steak slathered with country gravey, with burned (by my request) has browns, eggs over easy, a tiny bit runny, like I enjoy them, biscuits though I had every other bread choice. Easy stuff to make, easy to make wrong. There were right. My wife had french toast, nice thick pieces, crispy edges, fluffy interiors, sausage, scrambled eggs, all ok, but nothing to brag about. Easy and quick in and out. I plan to go back, and then back again. I want to try eggs with ham sliced off the bone, and I want to try their "meat lovers" omelette.

This has to be the best new restaurant Iâve been to in a long time. Lots of menu options that cater from vegan to meat options as well! They even have the impossible patty, that I now like better than real meat! The chia pudding is also to die for! Must try this place.
