The Hidden Manna cafe is family owned and operated. We feature Creole & American comfort foods. We only serve the freshest fare at reasonable prices. Stop by and check out our imported coffees and teas.
The place is located in a historic looking house. The setup is not over crowded. The staff is so polite and helpful. They expalin menu and asked if we liked mild or spicy dishes. The menu has a nice variety. A couple of us had the shrimp and grits. A very generous portion. I had to take home half. One person had the short ribs which they loved. The dessert carmel cake a slice was huge. The chicken and waffles what can I say. YUMMY!!!
Between the aroma of fresh donuts, the incredible variety of unique flavors, and perfectly made donuts, fresh every morning, Daddios is easily the Best donut shop anywhere in the area... I drive from Kankakee to get them weekly! They are about the same price as Dunkin, but double the size. Some of the more unique flavors include maple bacon, chocolate sour cream, red velvet, and strawberry boston creme. They are worth the visit!
My daughter and I were on our way home from Bourbonnais recently and drove out of our way to take in the delights of a mom and pop breakfast diner. It was a Sunday morning when church was going on so we knew the rush wasn't for another hour or so.We were greeted with a friendly smile and eventually prompted to pick any old place to plop down. The dining room isn't large, but still boasts perhaps 15 tables and booths. The walls are decorated handsomely-- someone has a thing for fired, welded iron-works. They looked great.I opened the menu and just about had my defibrillator jump start my heart! There, at the top, the breakfast combo #1, was my dream breakfast. How could this be? I've been visiting diners for years and never once found my meal right there waiting for me to order it! I was shocked (but not by my defibrillator)...Wherever I roam in these marvelous fifty states I always look for a two egg, two bacon, two sausage, two pancake meal and often times have to order such a world-wide standard ala carte. Not at the Country Corner Cafe-- they were ready for me. Bonus points since the meal also comes with toast or hash browns-- I took the hash browns and ordered my eggs scrambled. The combo was priced a bit over comfort level, but they had me at hello. My daughter and I ordered the same meal. It came promptly, hot and delicious. I buttered my cakes from bitty plastic butter servings and put a humble drizzle of syrup on top from a hot-syrup pitcher-- nice touch to get hot syrup! Eggs were perfect. Sausage was perfect. Bacon was maybe that blanched precooked bacon just heated up a bit and mine was heated up a bit too little-- still pretty chewy. The hash-browns were a mystery to me. The outside was clearly darkened and crisp from grilling, both top and bottom, but the insides of the hash-browns were like overcooked mashed potatoes with a bit of a vegetable oil flavor to them. I almost didn't finish them, but did.Everything else about our visit was terrific-- even the speeding railroad trains flying by across the street. If you're ever in Peotone-- scratch that-- if you're ever within 20 miles of Peotone, I'd eat at the Country Corner Cafe.

Great place for breakfast. They have wonderful flavored teas, which are refilled before you even need to ask. We had fruit crepes -- black current and Morello cherry -- that were just delicious and were so generous, we couldn't finish them. It's very, very busy in the summertime, and there are no reservations, so you can expect to wait just a bit for a table, especially if you want to sit outside on their lovely patio. There's plenty of parking available, as the restaurant is in a small mall. Highly recommend for breakfast.
