Stopped here on a Valley Isle tour on the way down from Haleakala for a picnic in the rain. Were advised to go inside to look around and get coffee -- very limited selection and and a downright unfriendly woman at the counter. Walked out unimpressed and would not return. Hard to see the gardens in the rain and only restrooms were porta-potties.

Perfect place to stop on your way down from the summit of Haleakala. Great prices and great food. Casual atmosphere. Lots of covered seating. They have breakfast and lunch items. Interesting, Hawaiian inspired menu items. My 10 yr old twins really enjoyed the Maui BBQ pork quesadilla. Green tortilla, stuffed with tender roasted pork. It was a large portion. They could have shared 1 order, but then there would not have been enough to share with the rest of us. My husband and older son ordered the Maui beef tacos. Street taco size. The order comes with 2. Must have been good. They were gone fast.I ordered the Maui Taro Burger. Veggie burger made with taro. It was delicious. Tender, moist with great flavor. Had a bit of a kick to it. It was covered with perfectly grilled onions and had generous slice of melted cheese on a Hawaiian roll. My only complaint would have been the fact that they had run out of several items. They were out of the chili, they did not have enough lemonade for all of us. While we were eating we had heard they had also run out of the tacos. We had arrived right about noon. I know they get a lot of traffic from the groups riding bikes down the volcano, but I would not expect them to have run out of several menu items so early in the lunch hour.

The smell of this hidden gem lured us in. It's located behind some galleries and shops down a small alleyway. The service was timely and friendly. The food came out quick and was super delicious. Our best meal on Maui. We both had sandwiches on their homemade focaccia bread. They came with a side of Caesar salad, the dressing was excellent. I would definitely eat here again and again!

Makana, meaning gift in Hawaiian, is a fitting name for Fairmont Kea Laniâs new gourmet marketplace, MAKANA Market + Cafe. The cafe offers Maui and Hawaiâi Island grown and roasted coffees including nitro cold-brew coffees, espresso, matcha and exceptiona
That's it. We'd been told not to eat here from the Makana Market Cafe, but to instead go to a different Fairmont restaurant. We should have heeded their advice! I knew eating on grounds for convenience would be expensive, but expected it to at least taste good! We ordered two different Poke bowls and both, even though seasoned differently (and visually appealing!), were bland and blah. The cookie we got was good, but very expensive. The naan tuna sandwich was acceptable. Guess if you need to eat here for convenience, go for the Naan tuna. SKIP the good looking Poke bowls! The market does offer various sundries and coffee bar. We didn't purchase any of that, but they are there if you need them.Aloha OklahomaMomOf3 and thank you for sharing your honest feedback regarding your recent MAKANA Market + Cafe experience. We welcome all reviews - good, bad and honest - as a way to grow and improve any guest experience. Please know your comments about our poke bowls and cookies have been taken to heart and will be addressed by our Director of Food and Beverage and Executive Chef. We hope that you'll give us a second chance during your next Fairmont Kea Lani stay to deliver the five-star experience you deserve.Warmest aloha,Lisa Nordstrom
