Went for lunch at Osteria da Sira e Remino and had an OK meal. Most of us had pasta, and the pici with pepper and cheese was great, so was the pici with tomato/garlic sauce. My 7yo son had papardelle with wild boar and ate the entire plate :-) My parents had some grilled meat which was fine but nothing special. The restaurant forgot to serve the vegies they ordered as a side dish. Am unsure if they were charged or not as I did not see the bill. Icecream was a bit boring (sorry), so go elsewhere for desserts :-)

Quei Due serves non-spectacular Tuscan food at a fair prices with additional servers needed to satisfy customers in 3 rooms. My favorite are the fresh pastas especially the hand made pici. My least favorite is the bread (dry, unflavored), the roasted veggies (some good but the eggplant was not edible) and the dessert (flavorless dry almond cake). They can do better.

We were staying in Castel Monastero and came down here one night for dinner. It is super casual and nothing fancy which was what we wanted. Great extensive menu, pizzas, pasta, meat dishes, wine... service wasnât speedy but we werenât in a rush. Lots of locals eat here which tells you all you need to know. Great for a casual meal and v good value for money.

We were recommended by our hosts to go to Mario's for dinner -and it was one of our favourite meals of our entire trip in Italy. It doesn't get a whole lot more farm-to-table than this! We had excellent fiorentina steak (raised on their farm) -the best we have ever had both as carpaccio and from the grill. That and their own Chianti wine were the stars of the show and excellent in quality. This is a home based restaurant served directly by Mario and his wife, and as about as authentic as an experience as you will ever get. Communicating was an adventure as we didn't know any Italian and they didn't know English but it was all part of the fun and we just went for the full set menu which was extremely reasonably priced for all that you got and the quality of it. I'm afraid if I rave too much about this place -the secret will be out! We would go back in a heartbeat! If you want some good steak and a real Italian experience, this is the place for you! Hope a return is in our near future!
