I confess to not having eaten here on previous trips because I (cue: hang head with shame) assumed Italian beef wouldn't be as good as good british. I was very, very wrong. Not a particularly smart place, but service was cheerful and the beef was amazing....Definitely returning later this year.

Up a typically windy road which takes you high above the coast, along a track which could be in the middle of nowhere (apart from the decent signposting!) and you arrive in another world. Beautiful elegant restaurant with an amazing terrace with unsurpassed views of the Mediterranean coast - incredible food - the best examples of everything. Incredible Argentinian beef, fantastic cheese - some of the best I've tasted! Amazing desserts - all home made! What an experience!

I had a lovely evening in this restaurant in the hills just behind Belmonte Calabro. A delicious pasta made with figs, bacon and aniseed. And a good fish second course as well. Lovely service and we met the chef at the end of the night. It's a country setting so nice if you would like a break from the beach with some fresher air. Belmonte Calabro the little town nearby is also worth a visit and the local bar in the town serves American breakfasts on occasional Sundays. Fantastic Air BnB near there as well called Ex Convento Cappuccinni.Thanks guys for your feedback and enjoy your trip in Calabria. See you soon
