The Three Ravens in Monticello, IL is a good place to relax with supper and a couple of drinks after a long day.
We have long known of the Three Ravens Pub and their good reputation, but had never gotten around to trying it in the past. We live about 35 miles from Monticello but we get there a few times a year to shop. This day after shopping the Holiday Showcase at Allerton House and Out of the Blue Pottery we decided this was where we would go. Our experienced waiter was a high school student who was clearly in theatre. (I suspect if the legend is true heâs also kissed the Barney Stone). He was very sweet and entertaining and gave us many laughs through our visit. How lucky were we? Now about the food. I had the Haminator, a ham, bacon, cheese sandwich and the ham was just delicious. The fries were usual crinkle fries but cooked to perfection. Being there during an off time the dining room was quiet, but the bar was hopping. The place has comfortable seating and nice pub theme decor. What an enjoyable experience it was and for me itâs all about first impressions. I canât wait to return and really hope to get the same waiter.

Situated in a one hundred year old church, Monarch Brewing Company has made its home as a brewery and restaurant in the heart of Monticello, Illinois. Monarch offers 28 taps at the full service bar, including a variety of selections brewed on the premises
The hardwood tables and stained glass windows offer a unique atmosphere. My salmon was delicious, not a huge portion. The portion of mashed potatoes with lumps was generous and they were delicious! No other veggie came with this meal. I would recommend this restaurant because I think people need to support something that is different than a chain restaurant. Those with a larger appetite would want to add an appetizer or dessert. Those who drink beer might prefer the hamburgers.

While the location is great and the interior with the exposed brick walls of this historic space is cool, service and food are unfortunately sub-par. Burgers are overcooked and dry, service is sketchy and borderline condescending. It seems that locals are served first, even if they arrive later. It also seems to help if you wear camouflage.

The "Fairway" restaurant at the Monticello Golf Club is just delightful. Luke Kennedy, the new chef/manager, hasn't served anything that we didn't love so far. Flavor combinations and unique creations offer larger metro area cuisine in small town USA.The Spring Greens salad is a summer staple. A large outdoor patio allows guests to enjoy the view of the golf course while sipping a cocktail or enjoying your meal. Very satisfying and enjoyable.
