Visited on a Sunday evening late in their season. Staff were friendly and attentive without overdoing. Clam chowder was spot on. Steak bites for an app, dipped in a sort of buffalo sauce but not hot, just the perfect warmth. We both had the walleye dinner which was a really big portion and very good. This is a gem on the North Shore.

The food has always been pretty below average. Good beer selection. Great views from the deck. The restaurant seemed understaffed as we had to wait 20 minutes even though the place was half empty. We shared appetizers and they were just ok, nothing great. Service was good once we were seated. Go because itâs convenient but donât expect anything fantastic and youâll be ok.

Four of us came for dinner on a Thursday evening early May, before the real tourist season started. The pub is part of the Lutsen Hotel complex. There was a male singer/guitarist entertaining the third full pub. We ordered 2 pizzas between the four of us, the omni and the carnivore. There was plenty enough for us. I thought the prices were a bit high--each pizza was $26--and they were nice but nothing special. Service was ok, but once our food was served the waitress never came back to top up our drinks.Hi there,Thank you for taking the time to review the Poplar River Pub.
