It sounds crazy, but my only complaint about this place is the lighting. The food is good, prices are reasonable, beer and wine options are also sufficient... I just hate how bright the overhead lights are for dinner! If the ambience was better (read: dimmed lighting), it would be a great atmosphere for dinner.

Ate in the restaurant. Staff was a little subdued when we arrived, but warmed up nicely. Ordered the Sesame Chicken and Happy Family. Both were delicious, but especially the Sesame Chicken because it wasn't overly sweet as I have been familiar with. A very pleasant change.

Lake Buffet

I did not know what type of food this restaurant served, the name is so generic it really does not give you any idea what you are getting into when stopping. Staff at the front desk and my waitress were less than welcoming. I would call my waitress (really all she did was deliver my beverage and take my empty plates) as efficient, not friendly. I was happy for the table across from me since they had a waitress whom seemed much nicer and more efficient i.e. refills on beverages. I do not know if more seafood is offered on Sundays but the buffet price is higher for lunch on that day of the week. I wish I knew ahead of time that the beverage is NOT included in the cost of the buffet. So my meal for one was nearly $13. They did a fair job of keeping the buffet stocked and there were a lot of seafood offerings as well as chicken. They had very little beef/pork and one slot was marked "pizza" but had some form of chicken wings instead. They have a lot of dessert options, all of which come prepackaged or in a can. The ice cream was gritty and too soft which made for a rather disappointing ice cream cone. I have encountered shrimp that is not peeled and De-veined at other buffets and wonder if that is the norm? It seems unacceptable to me to see that being offered. It would not be so bad if it had just been the cold shrimp but I found it in what looked like garlic shrimp scampi...I could not taste any garlic but it was in a sauce of some sort. I could not eat it because it looked like bits of vein were all over it, eeww! It gave me pause before taking any form of shrimp which is sad because I love the stuff. The bottom line is that I have eaten at much better Chinese buffets and had much nicer service. With all the various restaurant options in Rice Lake I would recommend going somewhere else to spend your hard-earned money.
