Meet up with friends for lunch before a funeral. The place was new to all of (former Ulysses residents) and both guys had once worked there when it was a grocery store. We had fun chatting about that while enjoying delicious food. Two had really nicely grilled BLT's and chips, one had a pulled pork sandwich which was yummy. I had a chicken salad wrap complete with sliced grapes in it. I had the fruit cup with it which was huge! Drinks were serve yourself and it was a nice relaxed atmosphere where people talked with others and one lady started playing the piano and we urged her to continue as she played Amazing Grace. Definitely a place we would come back to time and time again.Thank you so much for your kind words. We are excited to be here and are very glad you enjoyed your time with us. We look forward to seeing you again before too long.

The tavern just opened so I am hopeful that some of the issues get worked through. First the place was smoky from the grill, there was a smoke haze throughout the dining area. Second it was excessively slow. We waited over 45 minutes just to get our food. The menu is limited, mostly burgers but a few other items available. I had the bacon cheeseburger and it was cooked as ordered and tasted very good. Overall given the limited eating options in Ulysses this does make an okay choice.
We recently attended a wedding rehearsal dinner here. The food was delicious and served warm. Our fish was very tasty. The burgers looked great and the onion rings were plentiful. The fried pickles were wonderful. One helping serves several people. The service was good and the wait staff did a great job serving the 25 of us. The special room was decorated nicely and had plenty of space. The location was great and plenty of parking. A great experience.
Stopped in here for a late lunch.Atmosphere: this is a small restaurant with two separate sections. The front section has dark wood paneling and a variety of different pictures/paintings on the walls. I had a hard time trying to figure out what motif the pictures were going for as they were kind of random. There were two and four person tables in this section. The back room appeared to be slightly larger and done in a bright color. I saw a few larger groups in it, so I assume the tables were larger. Overall, the restaurant appeared clean. There was not a sign indicating whether to wait or take a seat, but a young lady told me to just have a seat.Staff: the staff was not overly friendly, nor rude. They were polite and professional enough to a stranger. They were attentive throughout and ensured I had everything I needed.Food: the food was decent. I ordered the beef steak tacos and received a side of rice and refried beans with it. The beef steak was just a little over cooked for my taste, but was nicely seasoned. The rice was a little dry, but seasoned appropriately.Overall, this is a nice little restaurant to grab a bite to eat. There are other options in this small town, so I would try them first.
