The Belarussian Baker is located in Asbury House, an 1880 Italianate Victorian mansion that has been restored. Three separate dining rooms each seat 16-20 persons.
Loved the borscht, had chicken Kiev and tried the marinated squash and cabbage! Husband loved his honey peppers and tenderloin. Friends had salmon sandwich and the schnitzel. ALL was delicious and the coconut cake was the best of the 4 desserts (the others were good too). Donât expect a modern location- this is in a historic home and has wallpaper but amazing hand painted crown molding! Hosts are so gracious and friendly!

After hearing a lot about the Red Shanty we decided to give it a try. The restaurant was busy for a Wednesday evening and in addition to the regulars, several softball families filled the place. We were seated pretty quickly and drink orders were taken. Before ordering we were told that brisket and burnt ends were almost sold out. Fortunately, we squeaked in under the wire. It took a half hour for our food to arrive but it was hot and fresh. I ordered brisket, burnt ends and sausage with homemade potato chips and beans for sides. I really liked everything except the sausage which really lacked flavor. Great beans, lots of chips and good sauce rounded out the meal. May wife had a chicken wrap and daughter had a loaded baked potato. Everyone enjoyed their food. Will definitely come back.

First, love the old building with the tin ceilings and walls. Came here for lunch and ordered soup and sandwich. Tomato basil soup, it was ok wish it had more basil, but the sandwich I had was heavenly. It's called caprese grilled cheese, fresh mozzarella basil pesto and sliced tomatoes grilled into rustic sourdough bread. I added turkey and holy cow bam, new favorite sandwich just like that. Strong beautiful flavors and just can't wait to come back to get it again.
In a small shop on Main Street in the town of Blackwater, MO, you will find the central gathering place for town residents in tourists, drinking coffee and eating homemade pie. The center of attention is Imogene, a 92-year-old bundel of energy, who bakes 12-15 pies every weekend for her guests while filling her small shop with laughter and stories. Traditional favorites -- apple, cherry, peach, lemon meringue, coconut custard -- join with creative newcomers to provide a full menu of delicious pies. Add a large scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delicious afternoon treat. Allow time to chat with Imogena and browse her collection of handmade aprons, bags and bedspreads. Pies are only sold a piece at a time because she wants to get to know her customers. Open year round with plenty of table space, but crowded during the concert season at Arrow Rock, a small adjoining town. Drop into Blackwater on your trip on I-70 for a memorable experience.
