Reviews on American food in Delft, South Holland Province, The Netherlands. Vermeer’s birthplace and a true gem, Delft sits between The Hague and Rotterdam in the country’s southwest. The city’s name comes from the Dutch word for digging, fitting since canals are a highlight here. Others include the 13th-century Old Church, the 15th-century New Church and the Prinsenhof, once home to William of Orange and now a museum. Delft has long been a center for fine ceramics, and traditional hand painting methods can still be witnessed at Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles.

We just had dinner here and was looking forward to some good meat dishes. I had the rib-eye steak and my wife had the mixed grill. The mains were excellent. Meat was flavorful and the garnishing and roasted vegetable sides were plentiful and well prepared. The fries on the other hand were a disappointment. They were hot yes, and "fresh" but were hard and dry - not crispy hard but like stale, over-cooked hard. We also ordered onion rings thinking they would be home made but are the typical frozen onion ring variety with little flavour or texture. The atmosphere is nice. Different. Refreshing from the standard ultra modern motiefs or the ultra classic "bruin-cafe" motiefs. It was full and busy but it was also slow. Took almost 35min after ordering before we got our meals. Water is served from what looks like a reusable bottle but they charge you 5.50 EUR for it, even though it could have come from the tap. A little strange. Especially since there is a large movement in the country to make tap water free of charge at restaurants. Lastly, as a restaurant with an "American roadside cafe" motief it's well done. Even the table condiments have Heinz ketchup which is also not common to see at Dutch restaurants. The Calve Mayonnaise bottle on he table however was a disappointment! If they had wanted to get that small detail right they should have had the real American mayo: Hellmann's Mayonnaise! Maybe next time... So if you are looking for some great steaks and other meat dishes you won't be disappointed. Highly recommend. Just be wary of the fries and the Calve mayo, and be prepared to pay for water.

We are always looking for good fries - especially sweet potatos - and it is not easy to find the real good ones: crispy, not greasy, sweet, not thin but substancial. But alas! This is the place which made us happy! Try with the mixture of mayonaise and peanut sauce. It's just delicious! Thank you, HoF, for making us believe in good fries again.

As if the combination of history and industry in Delft wasn't enough! New York Bistro & Lounge Sevenhills adds a piece of New York! Enjoy a good diner or lunch with beautiful pieces of dry-aged meat or choose one of the delicious fish or vegetarian dishes
We ended up here by chance and it was a nice surprise. The atmosphere is nice and has a little bit of the american-steakhouse feeling. We were 4 and all had the burger, something that do not make us a good reviewer of the menu but a good reviewer of the burger. It was really good but a little bit on the salty side. It was nicely cooked and the portion was more than enough combined with the fries. The service was kind of slow but nothing strange for the Dutch standards. We got also a combination of desserts and most of them were good. Particularly the proseco ice cream was a real beauty. The prices were ok but not cheap. If they reduce the salt and prices by just a little bit this place can be even better.

This place has to be avoided at all costs, We had very bad service to start with, Wrong meal being brought to the table. It was a sunny day so we sat outside. The food was nice but the owner of the place was just so rude. When we where ready to leave I went inside to pay, The owner turned around and said you will just have to wait. I explained that I just wanted to pay. He shouted back at me "Well every one just has to wait". He refused to let his staff give me a bill. After about 5 minutes I was able to find a member of staff and pay a Bill. I say pay a bill as I was never given a bill to look at just an amount I had to pay.I went back to try and ask for a receipt but again the owner was very rude to me, When one of his staff tried to help he just shouted at them to get back to work and not help me.I live in delft and would NEVER recommend. this place. Having been treated like a leper To finalize, The food is ok but there is much better in Delft, The owner does not care about his staff or his customers.Good day sir and thank you for your response. I'm sorry you felt that way, it is our intention to make everybody leave feeling happy. It was a very busy day that day and we had a waitress outside to take care of the payments. It was simply too busy for people to pay inside. And when it's that busy, indeed: people have to wait their turn. We would love to see you come again.
