Find out what American restaurants to try in Castries. The bustling port city of Castries is St. Lucia's capital. Shoppers flock to the city's dozens of stores and to Castries Market for fruits, vegetables and handicrafts. Sightseers admire murals painted by a local artist inside Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, and relax in Derek Walcott Square, named for the St. Lucian Nobel-prize-winning poet. Atop Morne Fortune (Hill of Good Luck) - where the French and English battled over control of the island - visitors take in panoramic vistas.
Things to do in Castries
We only ate at the restaurant - did not stay in the hotel. We came for dinner, so we didn't get to enjoy the birds outside as much since it was dark; however, we did see all of them sleeping in the tree, which was neat.We dined on Mother's Day, which had a price fixe menu. This was a little frustrating to us, as when we made the reservation, no one mentioned it. Also, when we arrived, we were informed that the credit card machines were not working. Obviously this is not the restaurant's fault, but again, it was frustrating that no one reached out to us. The price fixe meal was more costly, and had we not had sufficient cash, we would have been left with limited options as many restaurants are closed Sunday evening. With that said, the food was delicious. We had the grilled fish and roast beef, and both were quite tasty. The service was also quite good here, for St Lucia standards. Some people commented that it was slow, but we finished out drinks, soup, meal, and dessert within an hour and a half (whereas in some restaurants it took that long just to get the main course). Our reservation was for 7PM and the place was not at all busy - reservations probably are not needed during off season. However, if you are interested in dinner, I would suggest making a reservation for 8PM. The restaurant is situated near the dock where the Sunset Cruise party boat docks, and there was quite a loud, rowdy crowd dispersing around 7:30PM that really affected the ambiance. Again, outside of the restaurants control, and it had cleared up by 8PM, so if your reservation is later, you'll miss it.
I discovered this place early last year after a friend and I went there together. Since then, I have frequented it on several occasions but I have also noticed that it has been closed for sometime now. It's such a shame because I think that the concept of a Campari-infused menu was a great idea. Hopefully things will pick up soon.

Ideally located right on Reduit beach, Spinnakers serves good food every day, breakfast, luncheon and dinner. The menu is varied with the lunch menu changing daily. Our food is all freshly made using local produce as much as possible. International and lo
Food good staff very efficient place full of Americsns which they let come in just wearing swimwear .when we are eating we dont want to see oversized Americans with no tops on getting drunk and loud they also allowed the drunken Americans to take glass bottles on the beach despite the presence of bezch patrols outside...a recipe for young feet standing on broken glass hence the average ratingsHello Particia,We always ask customers who come in for a drink if they are sitting in the restaurant or going to the beach. If they are going to the beach we supply plastic cups, soon transferring to cardboard by the way!!Unfortunately some of our overseas friends are loud, there isn't much we can do about that!! As for being drunk, we do reserve the right to stop serving if someone is getting that way and we also have a swim wear policy if guests are dining at lunch time, tops are essential or they will not be seated. But if they are just passing through to pick up a drink, we can't do too much about that.I am sorry if you took offense at some guests enjoying themselves a little too much at our great bar and restaurant.Kind regards.Michae;l

Lovely husband and wife team run the place by day, serving Lavazza coffee, food and freshly squeezed juices. But then went in the evening to find two surly, dead-eyed girls who couldnât have been more unfriendly. Because of them this review is only 3*.Tip to owners - make sure one of you work the night shift if you want your business to flourish.Wonât go back in the evening, plenty of competition nearby...with friendly, smiling servers!
