If you're looking for a home cooked meal this is the place to go, look for the blackboard outside and take a seat for some of the best home cooked grub I've had in Asia let alone on the island. A hearty and satisfying menu that attracts all the expats in the area. Expect to see all the other restaurant owners eating here. That's when you know it's good!

The service was OK, the food mediocre... The ambience, just normal MJ square-esqe.The other places around are better. But price is nothing to complain about.

BAD ! The owner he is so bad. He trick people on money, its not clean the price is soooo high and it is a really bad bad Palace. Please people dont stay here!! Im so mad. It is insane. I can assure you I as the owner am definitely not bad, I go out of my way to help my guest have the best time possible but some people simple do not want any help and prefer to complain instead of fixing whatever is wrong so what can we do in that situation, We never try to trick anyone about anything much less about money but please do read the title and description of the room you are booking so you are fully aware of what kind of room you are going to be booking ahead of arrival, please look at more than just the prices ok, Our resort is also very clean and we have had many people tell us exactly that in person with a smile on their faces, I do wish to tell all future guests that this booking was during Holy Week which is the most expensive week of the year at every resort on Bantayan Island so of course the price was high then, this occurs 1 week out of 52 weeks per year so if the price is to high for you then simple book on any of the other 51 weeks of the year and stay for half as much or even less many times ok, this guest got the room they had booked exactly as they had booked, most likely they had booked this room as it was one of the only rooms we had left or they were only looking at the prices and not the titles or description, I really do not know, we did not have any other room to put them in or we would have gladly upgraded them for a small extra charge but unfortunately this was not an option, We do also have very nice aircon rooms available most weeks so book them early ok, just don't book during Holy Week if all you will do after is complain about the price ok because it will be expensive every year at that time, thank you Randy

Having eaten hanging rice (aka âpusoâ) and grilled pork barbecue on the ferry ride from Hagnaya Port to this island, my ravenous tummy was still a-wailing at 8:30 a.m.My friend Kikay who traces her familyâs roots to this island, and is a long-time Bantayan resident, thoughtfully suggested that we try a place for the âsecondâ breakfast to tide me over until lunchtime.I had no plans for the first day beyond our arrival, but guess what? We still ended up having a tummy-filler of a breakfast at this cafe.Transportation is needed to go to this place as it is not located near the tourist places for lodgings or dining options. If you are not in a hurry, you can wait to flag down a tricycle to bring you here, but remember to arrange for transportation from the cafe to bring you to your next destination afterwards.TIP: If you have a driverâs license for a motorbike and can handle some rough roads, do rent a scooter. This saves you time and walking effort exploring not just Sta. Fe but the other two municipalities. The property is separated from the road by a line of tall hedges and some trees, but you will see small signs on a wooden post giving you a hint of what they offer. There is big parking area in front. A few peacefully grazing cows at the perimeter mooed a bovine greeting to us early comers, but don't worry, they are used to people. As we toed off our footwear at the entrance and stepped inside the café, we noted the comfy cushions and soft sofas scattered on the floor, and approved of unpretentious hammocks which tempted us to swing the day and cares away. There were funny signs reminding us on how to deal with lifeâs stresses with our sense of humor intact. An unobtrusive aquarium was at the front of the wooden structure of the café, with brightly colored fishes placidly swimming from one end to another.Lively music, appropriate for the time of the day and customers who were there to eat, was playing from speakers near our table. In keeping with the laid-back, small town atmosphere of Bantayan, the appearance and ambiance of the café has this casual vibe and implies a goal of âchill!".We ordered a typical breakfast of eggs and rice â the difference was in the main star of the breakfast plate â crispy bacon was in one, while the other held the crispy âdanggitâ (rabbitfish), whose most popular source is Bantayan. Ketchup and local vinegar to pair with our respective dishes were handed over too.We also asked for coffee, juice, tea and Dexter, who manages the place, kindly accommodated my fervent request for local âsikwateâ (hot choco) instead of the modern powdered version. We settled down to eat our breakfast leisurely. *Burp!* is all I can say.Between wanting to use the hammock and playing a jenga game for the first time, I chose the latter and was thoroughly entertained. It was delightful to extend our stay here beyond breakfast. Time flew in a blur as we played and listened to the music, until we had to leave as we would be having lunch on the other side of the island. (Omigosh, eating again?)RECOMMENDATION:Whether for snacks, breakfast or just a relaxing break in your routine whilst in Bantayan, do visit Frio Lifestyle Café. It turned out to be a happy surprise to have our first breakfast here upon our arrival.Filling food, thoughtful customer service, setting, relaxing atmosphere, customer delight factor, were all satisfactory as far as I was concerned and I would definitely visit next time I am in Bantayan. Perhaps for lunch, afternoon merienda (snacks) or tea-time.
