On Friday, Oct. 11 we had a reservation for 10 people at Varia. We were fortunate to dine in a lovely and intimate private room where we were seated at a round table - especially conducive to talking and catching up as we were celebrating a Big Milestone High School reunion with friends from all over the country who made the trip back to Norfolk for the reunion weekend. Our server, Trent, was especially attentive and helpful in assisting with cocktail selections as well as menu choices. Our food and drink all arrived in a timely fashion and we could not have been more pleased with the level of service. The sommelier greeted us as soon as we had been seated to assist with wine choices which was a very nice touch! Everyone raved about their entrees, and the desserts were over the top! It was exciting to show off one of Norfolk's best restaurants to our out of town guests, several of whom had not been back here for decades.Kudos to The Main and Varia for upholding such high standards in both service and quality of food and presentation. It was a great way to kick off a special weekend!Thank you for your wonderful review! We hope to serve you again soon!

The Education Wine event was great. Very informative, casual and fun with 7 excellent wines to experience. Dinner before was good, but not perfect. The skirt steak has a repulsive grape jelly concoction on it, but it was easy to push off, the real issue is that the steak was 50% inedible fat. Burger was good, Ravioli was good and the fresh catch was great. Wine is very good, nice happy hour but you'll still pay a hefty bill. Our wine was $20 a glass minus $5 for Happy Hour. We had drinks after the wine tasting which was nice. Uber recommended for the Wine Tasting events, its allot of wine to consume and then drive. We'll be back!

Great atmosphere and quality wines. Fun spot with outside patio and Ghent neighborhood.
We both choose the ceasar salad with chicken, which I have ordered there before. As soon as it was served I noticed the plating and the amount . Both were different; the proportion clearly did not measure the cost of the meal. We also charged four dollars more than the advertised price of one of the drinks. . Too much $$$ for what you are getting.
