Eating on our terrace on warm summer evenings, lunchtimes, cooler days in our cosy restaurant with THE BEST VIEW FROM THE ROOFTOP â itâs always special. We use local and fresh ingredients in an imaginative and creative way to bring you the best dishes in
If this is your first stop in Uzbekistan (it was mine) then you could do much worse than this cafe for an introduction to shashlik and manti (dumplings) with a simply astounding view of the unfinished minaret. If this is your last stop and you can't stand any more shashlik or manti, you should still come for the views. I did both a lunch and, the following day, a sunset dinner at the cafe. Since I was there in early September, just as the tourist season was beginning, I didn't need reservations (and it was still quite hot out in Khiva so I very much enjoyed a very cold beer). Sure, there were other tourists around me, but I had no competition for a table with a great view. It was a very peaceful way to end my two days in this beautiful town.

The Khiva Moon is located outside the fortress about 4 minutes walk from the west gate. The tourist office recommended it to me as a quieter restaurant than those inside the old town. The food was good and was noticeably cheaper that at similar places inside the town, the waiter spoke good English and was very friendly.
We visited a week ago. The owner is a charming woman who opened Caravan Khiva, just outside the wall, recently. The roof top terrace creates a very special venue for a delicious meal of Sheesh, salads, breads etc. She even brings you warm coats and wraps for chilly evenings. Great views, minutes walk from the centre.
