I first visited the Peppermint Café in Kichijoj way back in 1988. Back then it was a funky little place with big soft old chairs, great food and cool staff. It has changed over the years and is now a more upmarket restaurant but the food is still great and the staff cool and charming. Tonight we had the somtam (papaya salad) which was medium spicy by Thai standards and probably very spicy by Japanese standards. The morning glory was good but could have had more garlic and chilli. The spring rolls were tightly wrapped and very good. The grillled chicken was very tasty. They have a selection of craft beers on the menu now and I believe the restaurant has become no smoking. (Or maybe no one was smoking tonight). Very nice dinner.
