The St Aubyn Arms is a modern day Country pub that was refurbished in 2011 giving it a fresh & bright feeling, yet still full of Cornish character. Our bar is always fully stocked of wines and beers from around the world. We pride ourselves on our 4 real
Stayed nearby to this gem of a pub. We went there 4 nights out of our 6 day holiday! There really was nowhere else that could have compared. The lovely welcome. The efficient service. And of course the food! The chef/patron is a genius - definitely my fillet steak was the best I have ever had. But we had different dishes every night and they were perfection. The liver and bacon was amazing - the portion was so generous I skipped breakfast the following morning!Big thanks to you all at St Aubyn. A gem in a village not to be missed. Central to so.many wonderful places to visit.Cornwall at its best

A visit to west Cornwall would not be complete without a visit to the famous Redruth Meadery. The Redruth Meadery is a candle-lit medieval eating hall complete with drapes, shields and lances – along with waiting staff in period costume – creating an atmo
Stayed in Redruth as a base to explore Cornwall. This restaurant was near to our accommodation so we thought we would try it out. Menu was mainly all deep fried or steak! no healthy alternatives. Service was not warm and friendly! Steak served on a wooden chopping board! vegetarian option soup or lasagne! won’t be going back!Thank you for your review. We do understand that a Meadery isn’t for everyone but this is why we have the menu’s displayed outside which gives customers the opportunity to see if there is something they would like before having to come inside. The essence of a Meadery is fried food, Scampi, Breaded Mushrooms, Chicken etc but we have also added to our menu’s extra items such as Burgers, Steaks & Lasagnes to give people more choice. We do not however advertise as a health food restaurant so I am not sure why you would have thought that the case. There are many vegetarian options outside of the soup & Lasagne you mentioned, such as Spicy Bean Burgers, Fish (Cod or Mackerel) as well as Salad. We also cater for Vegans if booked in advance so we can prepare a suitable dish for them.As for the Steak being served on a ‘wooden chopping board’ – these are very expensive Olive Boards and we use wooden plates/boards to keep with the Medieval Theme, we also do not supply cutlery with most dishes (unless asked) as again it is the theme of the restaurant to eat with your hands, of course the exceptions to this are things such as Steak, Lasagne etc… I appreciate that a Themed Restaurant is not necessarily your normal place to go but it is unfair to mark down a review grade because you feel we should change the Medieval concept to a healthier vegetarian restaurant or like in another review where you complained that they did not serve food on a Monday – the beauty of having different types of restaurants is to be able to vary your experience and it is a shame that this was completely missed by you.

The newly refurbished and family run Railway Inn is a relaxed family friendly pub with restaurant. Enjoy a huge range of fresh meals from beautiful and delicious sharing platters to tasty 16oz steaks on steak night with locally brewed Keltek ales. Relax o
This pub was closed for a while, and has reopened under new management. The bars have been tastefully renovated; and the staff are very friendly and helpful.I think it is in the estate of pubs owned by or tied to (not sure of the right term) the Keltec Brewery, in nearby Redruth. Whatever -- the draught beers (Keltec products when I was there) are excellent and well-kept by the cellarman. And there is a good range of other drinks, including Cornish ciders. When I went most recently it was as a family group of three to the Sunday carvery. I forget the exact price, but it was not more than £10 per head for a standard range of meats and veg. What stood out, and made this excellent value for money was the cooking. Everything was just right -- none of the soggy, overcooked veg that so often afflicts carvery food, and the meats were so tasty! When I put all these things together, I have no hesitation in saying we'll be back, and sooner rather than later.
