I can't rate this place highly enough. Friendly welcome, good choice from the menu. The 500g steaks were amazing, cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The guy who looked after us was obviously proud of the restaurant and the food it produces - I shall return!Dear Madam, dear Sir! We dined here at the recommendation of our hotel receptionist, and it was one of two recommendations where she was spot on.It is a little out of the town centre, in an area that appears to be going through some renovation, but close enough to our hotel for us to walk.It is a large âbarn-likeâ structure, with small windows, and my impression was that it is more targeted at the winter tourist scene, with a large fire at one end. As we were there in June it wasnât lit, and the interior was a little cavernous and empty â especially as we were the first diners to appear. However, as more people arrived it became much more attractive. It is always difficult for non-Spanish diners out of season here, in that whilst we would want to eat around 20;00, they donât turn up before 22:00, so restaurants tend to be slow starters.We were welcomed and shown to our table, and the waiter made some recommendations as to what was available. I had the âMountain Grillâ, a mixture of small portions of steak, lamb, chicken and pork, heated on a slate at the table, and my wife had turbot. Both were excellent, and the accompanying wine â again recommended by the staff was also very good.Unlike other reviewers, we found the staff pleasant and easy to contact, although as none appeared to speak English I can understand some peopleâs difficulty. A high point was the âSweet Trolleyâ where all their desserts were laid out and one could choose a dessert live, something that has disappeared from most restaurants, and something I miss.Overall, it was a very good evening, the food and wine excellent, and the staff attentive without being obtrusive. Prices are slightly higher than other restaurants in the area, but it was worth it, and the phrase âYou get what you pay forâ is very relevant.Highly recommended.

We ate an early lunch here on a Saturday in January and were amongst the first diners to arrive. Although the restaurant itself is fairly impressive with its ceiling of exposed beams, some of the walls in the entrance hall looked stripped of art & pictures that had hung there previously. Our starters consisted mainly of soup: a cream of onion soup that came with a skin on it (as though it had been sitting around for a while), a tasty cream of pumpkin soupand a delicious beetroot and herring soup.For mains, one of our party ordered an artichoke main course with brochettes but was not overly impressed by it. Two other guests had the lamb chops main which they said was tasty and nicely cooked and I had a magret de canard that was delicious and perfectly cooked.What let the restaurant down badly though was the service. Our waitress was pleasant enough although inexperienced. She asked the sommelier to help with our wine choice but we had to wait 10 minutes for the sommelier to arrive at our table despite the restaurant being less than half full at that stage. When she did eventually arrive at our table, I was busy paging through the wine list - it wasnât easy as the pages had stuck together -to find a wine that I wanted to ask her about. She waited about 15 seconds, then rolled her eyes and walked off never to return (which may have been a blessing). I have never in any Michelin-rated restaurant had such surly and dismissive service. We had to resort to our own knowledge to make our wine choices. The white wine we chose, after being ignored by the sommelier, was a wine from Penedès made from 100% Parrellada called Honeymoon. It was an organic & biodynamic wine (Demeter certified) which was delicious having a honey & tropical fruits flavour combined with with citrus notes. It was was priced at EUR13 on the wine list. Bravo! for the winemakers there. The red wine we selected was a Torres Salmos from Priorat for EUR 23.50. It was a perfectly well-made wine which paired well with our main courses.
