Wife and I were buzzing through Baar and remembered a friend mentioned Grill Bill. The store is related to Fleisch Discount, a discount meat purveyor in Switzerland. They had a special for 2 for 70CHF for the 400g Miss America that included a huge salad, more fries than the two of us could eat, and what seemed to be a beef tenderloin or entrecôte. The meat was exceptional. For a fatless cut it was extremely tender.After speaking with the chef, I learned the store owners have decided to offer a near budget priced menu for the mostly working class folks that enjoy the establishment. There is local draft beer and wine and other non-alcoholic options for drinks.

The problem is, the restaurant has such a local reputation that you have rather high expectations and looking at the prices, you might assume they are justified.It was not bad, but already coming in the head of service let us feel, how lucky we are and we should be honored to get a table for two. We arrived at 6pm and we were told they are more or less fully booked on a Wednesday, even so looking at his tablet with the table reservation it showed about 1/3 reserved at the most.I have ordered a Sirloin steak 300g (Entrecote), medium well. Damage 50CHF no side order apart of a few sauce samplers. Fries or others would have been additional 7CHF.The steak comes from open fire, nice crust very flavourful, it was not bad at all.But it would have been nice if they would put a little butter or olive oil on it so it doest look so try.after asking twice I did get some bread, the rolls where fresh and also nice.After a few minutes the waiter came and asked if things are fine; I asked him what do you think; pointing at the steak. He though the it was wrongly cooked, I said no, but it was rapped! after the 3rd slice the plate was full of blood, showing me the chef, just put it on the hot grill and straight to my platte and he didnt give the steak any time to rest. An absolut shame doing this to a steak and nothing I expect in a Steakhouse.Maybe and just maybe the owner should spend less time drinking wine in the restaurant and give some attention to the kitchen output.
