Laid-back counter-serve Mexican chain with Baja-style tacos & burritos plus gluten-free options. Ultimate fresh mex made your way - exactly as you love it!
Costa Vida, Cafe Rio, and Chipotle are all basically the same. Seriously - the food tastes almost exactly the same. It's the same format, similar prices, and similar food offered. I had the chicken burrito and it was definitely filling, but just wasn't very authentic or good. The green chile sauce is SWEET. Seriously? Who does that? It tasted like candy. My New Mexican friends would die of indignation. It was crowded, noisy, and I felt rushed through the line. Hey, at least I didn't have to tip. So many of my Utah friends love Costa Vida and Cafe Rio. They're entitled to their opinions I guess. If you're up for REAL Mexican food, check out Maria Bonita nearby, or el Mexsal in Provo.

Many tire easily of Mexican Food without creative flair. Admittedly, my expectations were not high finding the dining area sparsely populated on a Saturday evening, the strip-mall location routine, and the decor, while attractive, rather sparse. The simple menu did not engender much hope until I examined it more carefully to find some unique-sounding dishes. My choice of Empetacos proved to be delicious. Four small fried tortilla shells filled with shredded chicken in a creamy blend were covered with varieties of cabbage and chopped pineapple! A totally unique flavor treat. The plate also included Spanish Rice, and a cup of Frijole Blend with a swirl of sour cream on top. The entire meal was delightful. My wife enjoyed a piping hot Chimichanga, well seasoned and beefy, and a surprise cup of Frijole Soup, different than that served with my meal. Service could have been a bit more prompt, especially since the dining room had only a few parties. No bill was delivered to the table. Eventually we figured out that it was available at the cash register near the entrance, which was fine but no one said anything. Easily short of a "5" rating -- they have a little growing up to do -- but we'll be back to sample more Sabroso dishes in the near future.

Great house-made chips and salsa, with complimentary warm bean dip. Portion size was reasonable. Food was good and prices were on the moderate-side. I had the pork carnitas and my wife had a Chile releno wrapped in a flour tortilla (smothered in cheese). Nothing extraordinary, but certainly a place to come back to if Iâm in the neighborhood.
