If we rated restaurants on staff pleasantness and kindness this eatery would get five stars. It's obvious that the owners and mangers take great pride in many aspects of their business. The restaurant itself is unique, authentic in design as well as colorful and interesting. It's clean and inviting.Los Magueyes has locations in Wildwood, Belleview, Inverness, Beverly Hills and Crystal River. It's incredibly popular which is problematic in the sense of what passes for Mexican food in Central Florida. The food is an entirely different matter. We tried tacos, fajitas and burritos. The best part turned out to be the side dishes - the rice and beans.I wish I could rave about this place but honestly I can't. I have had really great Mexican food and this isn't even good Mexican food. It's average. It's lacking in taste, flavor and seasoning. I have never had good Mexican (or Cuban) food in Central or Northern Florida. I don't think Florida residents in that area know what they are missing. We didn't finish our food. Almost $50 for three carry out dinners and it was, just not good enough to eat.The portions are large enough - if you get the entire dinner that you paid for. The steak and chicken was tough and stringy (grizzle). The shrimp was virtually tasteless. The seasoning was was mostly undetectable. What was seasoned, was off.It didn't help that they were missing parts of the carry out order and that failure to provide the various parts per the menu was frustrating. One dish was all steak, not steak and chicken and we paid extra for all three - steak, chicken and shrimp fajitas. 2 shrimp. Two!One of the dinners was missing the rice and beans. One of the dinners was missing the guacamole, sour cream, lettuce etc. It doesn't seem like they should fail to provide complete orders but they manage to leave out way too much.I think the staff tried but they simply didn't get the whole order in the bags. I saw other customers return for missing parts of their orders and not small items - rather entire dinners. It seems that this failure to serve complete carry out orders is far too common.Despite its popularity, I can't recommend it. I find no reason to return either. I don't like leaving negative reviews so I hope they improve the food.

I was concerned about going in because the parking lot and entrance were both quite littered and dirty, they have 3 cigarette ash trays sitting right by the enrtrance. A little attention could be given to pulling weeds, washing windows and doors and maybe even putting a nice tall plant near the door instead of the filled trays of cigarette butts, ugh. We walked in and found the interior to be a little better and the server Jeyli did a good job of serving us. The food was what we expected, good but nothing special...the pricing was fair and the happy hour margarita was only $3.99. Since we drove 20 miles to try it out and it wasn't anything to brag about we probably won't return. I hope the kitchen is cleaner than their run down exterior.

Real authentic Puerto Rican cuisine!
I love this place. The service is outstanding. Friendly, like at a loving home. Then the food... A symphony of flavors with a unique Puerto Rican style.I'm glad to see people from different places enjoy a lot of food for an affordable price. Delicious Arroz Con Gandules, Habichuelas Rojas y Pernil de Puerco. And alcapurrias, sorullitos, rellenos de papa, tostones y amarillos.
