Basque restaurant located in historic meadow mill. Daily changing menu, wood fired grill and pintxo bar.
We entered the very upbeat and trendy La Cuchara and found it to be alive with activity every which way you looked. We were meeting friends to discuss an upcoming trip together and so we started out at the bar for a drink before getting seated. Their bar is huge with plenty of seating at it should that be your desire. Their bartenders were very astute at helping to select a drink based on what you were thirsting for. Once seated we were brought an interesting array of house made breads to try. We decided to order a variety of Pintxos (bite sized portions also known as Tapas) and Primeros (appetizers) to share. We ordered the Jamon Croquettes, Pork Bocadillo's, Cana de Cabra, Manchego, Potatas Bravas and Scallops. Everything was quite excellent, very flavorful. It truly reminded me of tapas bar hopping in San Sebastian Spain, which is a resort town located right on the Bay of Biscay in north east Spain, Basque country. Following this wonderful smorgasbord of Basque delights we each ordered from the Platos de Parrilla which translates to grill dishes or large plates. Our friends ordered the Lamb Shoulder and Grilled Wabbit, I mean Rabbit (Wabbit is for all you Bugs Bunny fans). My wife and I decided to share an order of their Fideos which is like Paella only instead of rice they use very thin pasta and this recipe used spaghetti squash. It was really YUM, very flavorful. I chose a bottle of Monte Real Rioja wine to accompany our meal. All in all a great meal in a very vivacious atmosphere. The service was timely and really good.

It had been a long time since our last visit. We werenât disappointed. We had dinner before the Billy Joel concert. Paella for 2. We love the subterranean feeling, especially on a hot summer evening. The wait staff are all professionals. They asked for extra time to prepare the meal and it came out as promised. We had oysters with crab while we waited (and 3 perfect cosmos). The food was exceptional. They got us on our way in a timely fashionâall tuned up for the concert. Weâll be back to sample the rest of the menu soon.

Stopped for dinner because of the reviews. It is a bit dumpy looking, but that is not a problem for me. The service was slow. Took along time to get my drink refilled. My enchiladas were drenched in a green sauce. The food tasted good enough, but just not sure about the reviews. I am not sure if I would stop here the next time I am in the area.
